My girlfriend and I had a great time. It was a little rocky, but that was to be expected. We saw a pod of dolphins- at least 100 dolphins in the pod. We followed the dolphins for about 40 minutes. There were dolphins everywhere. It was like the dolphins decided to throw a party. They were all around the ship. They like swimming with the boat and they get extremely close. We saw tons of dolphins (babies and adults). Dolphins were doing spins in the air and diving in groups of three. It was an amazing sight. We also saw a whale. I also liked the fact that they had beer and food on the boat. The staff was very informative. Very good for the price. I am definitely going to do this again in the near future. |

Great time. Bring a jacket. It was cold out on the water and the sun was shining.
Saw 4 whales and many many dolphins swimming along the boat. Very cool.
Take 2 Dramamine if you are the queasy type. You will need it! |

I chose the last catamaran cruise scheduled for the day. Dana Warf states on their tickets that everyone should arrive 30 minutes early because each cruise departs exactly on time. Mine did not. My boat was 20 minutes late from the earlier cruise. The captain did not make up for the delay by staying out an extra 20 minutes. Instead we returned to the dock exactly on time so our cruise was cut short by 20 minutes.. which was unfortunate because at the time we turned back we were following a whale. I will not take their cruise again. I expressed my displeasure to the crew.. they told me to speak to the captain..... he was no where to be found. |

We spent about 2.5 hours on the water and saw Sea Lions, Common Dolphins and three Fin Whales.
Inevitably you spend a certain ammount of time waiting for something to happen but it was a nice afternoon so not a problem.
Apart from the Sea Lions they are all hard to photograph though - more of a video camera than a still camera type of activity. |

Took the wife and kids on a Saturday afternoon, day before Mother's Day, and we all had a wonderful time. Even the 14 year old enjoyed himself. My wife loves dolphins so her eyes ball up with tears upon the mention of them! We saw hundreds, if not thousands of dolphins. Different types too, Bottlenose, White Beaked and even some Risso's which we were told is pretty rare to see up close. And we got right up next to them. The Bottlenose were very fun and swam right up next to the boat, peering at us through the glass-like water. There were even a couple times we saw some leaping out of the water ahead of us! Great stuff! My only real complaint would be that the 2 hour trip goes by way too fast. We all wish the trip could have lasted longer. It was a beautiful sunny and clear day out on the ocean. Oh, and one other thing that sort of let us down was that we didn't see the huge Blue Whale that the catamaran crew had mentioned they saw on the morning trip that same day. Kind of got our hopes up because seeing a Blue Whale would be majestic. But maybe next time. And there will be a next time for us! I recommend this charter to any ocean, sealife, water-loving people out there. |

I went on the Spirit of Dana Point site and thought I was buying tickets for that and found out it was for a much different boat thru Dana Wharf. I specifically wanted Spirit of Dana Point. Somehow I got redirected to your site unknowingly, we arrived at the dock and were very disappointed.
Also, Mother's Day at 2pm the sea was extremely choppy and the sky was stormy, we all felt sea sick even after taking Dramamine, and couldn't wait to get back to shore. It was a very long 2 hours, and we've sailed before and were never disappointed.
Wish we could get a credit or refund somehow, both for the stormy day and the wrong boat.
Thank you,
Marlena |
