The scenario: we were on the afternoon cruise. During the morning cruise, several whales had been spotted and stressed out by the hordes of boats that descended upon them. The captain made a conscious choice to cruise in the opposite direction to avoid further stress to those magnificent creatures. He was fairly certain he'd find other whales; but, then again ... maybe not. He explained it all at the start of the cruise. I totally applauded his decision. And yes!! we did find whales. We and only two other boats. Made for a marvelous trip. Will definitely choose Catamaran Adventures again. |

OK, but you had to be in the front of the boat

Crew went to a lot of trouble to find us a whale; however, the front of the boat was not big enough for everyone to have a spot at the rail. For those of us on the side or back of the boat there wasn't a whole lot to see since every time a whale was signted, they always turned the boat so that only those in front could really see it. It would have been nice if they occasionally positioned the boat so that others could see the whales better, rather than just those lucky enough to find a place at the front. |

Hadn't been out on the ocean on a boat in along time. Thought it would be fun. Saw in The OC Register paper about the the sightings of Blue Whales, and pictures. Thought I would take my husband for his birthday out to see if we could see any. None on our trip however, it was enjoyable and saw hundreds of little black and white dolphins, a sunfish, and seal lions. Crew was great. We'll probably go again. |

Even though we did not see any blue whales the cruise was great. The captain skillfully guided the boat among a very large pod of dolphins: amazing to watch them play. Glorious weather and calm seas. A wonderful Sunday afternoon. |

We observed little sea life, not for lack of trying, but the experience was great in spite of that. The boat was very nice and clean and handled the rough seas without difficulty. We were disappointed that we did not see whales or schools of dolphins, but we enjoyed the overall experience. |

I went on the Spirit of Dana Point site and thought I was buying tickets for that and found out it was for a much different boat thru Dana Wharf. I specifically wanted Spirit of Dana Point. Somehow I got redirected to your site unknowingly, we arrived at the dock and were very disappointed.
Also, Mother's Day at 2pm the sea was extremely choppy and the sky was stormy, we all felt sea sick even after taking Dramamine, and couldn't wait to get back to shore. It was a very long 2 hours, and we've sailed before and were never disappointed.
Wish we could get a credit or refund somehow, both for the stormy day and the wrong boat.
Thank you,
Marlena |

We chose the catamaran tour because of the limit of 50 people. We did not want to be shoved like sardines into a tour boat. The catamaran was spacious and provided great viewing access for everyone on board. I have used this tour company before and we have ALWAYS seen whales! (maybe just our luck!) One thing that is not mentioned that I wish we had known about was the FREE BREAKFAST that was provided with the FREE LECTURE at 10am. It was very informative and humorous as well. Its well worth the additional money! The reservations were easy to make online and even if you are in a hotel and cant print the e-ticket out, they make it EASY by providing a number you can write down and take with you! The reservations department was well informed and I would certainly do business here again! |

My 65 year old dad said it was one of the coolest experiences of his life! His wife agreed.
Warning: several of the people in our group who waited til they were on board to take motion sickness medicine were miserably queasy the whole time. The one lady who usually has motion sickness took her medicine an hour before boarding as the directions state & she was fine.
So take some over-the-counter motion sickness medicine and you'll be in for the experience of a lifetime. Think you can do without it, and you are gonna ruin a great experience.
Sighted: whales, dolphins, sea otters and everyone loved it! |
