Though we didn't see whales, we did see a couple different dolphin species. The last species of dolphins that we saw were super friendly and came right up to the boat!
TIP: it gets cold out in the waters. Bring a light jacket. |

We were able to see around 600 dolphins swim near the boat. Unfortunately it's not whale season just yet, but the dolphins were interesting to see. Also the tour was very informative, the caption knows his mammals! Had a great time! |

On our ladies getaway this year we decided to take a whale watching tour in California - what a wonderful choice! Our tour guides were informative and helpful and made every effort to ensure we would see something. Although it wasn't technically whale season (Nov 6), we did see a fin whale - awesome. What I liked best though was the school of dolphins they brought us to - that alone was worth it. Rounded out with a sea lion sunning, this trip was fantastic! Even had we not seen any wildlife (how is that possible?), the ride alone would be worth it. |

On a beautiful, calm day, the catamaran was very stable (important to me who gets seasick), and very quickly found a fin whale which we watched for quite some time. Then on to a very large pod of porpoises -- perhaps 2000 altogether -- who seemed to enjoy swimming beside us and surfing in the boat's wake. In between, we watched sooty shearwaters who were so full of krill that they couldn't even make it off the water. The naturalist on the boat was very informative, and the trip overall was a great treat. |

We spent too long looking at the common dolphins. I felt like we should have moved on to find the whales. |

We had a wonderful time! The crew was very helpful and gave us all the facts on the wildlife we saw during our Catamaran ride. We didn't see any whales but we did see hundreds of dolphins as they swam along side the boat for quite some time. It was an incredible experience that we will definitely plan to do again the next time we visit Dana Point. I highly recommend this adventure and taking advantage of 1/2 price Tuesday's made it affordable for us to do something out of the ordinary during our stay at the beach. |

We had friends visiting us in San Clemente from the mid-west and we thought that a good outing with them would be a whale watch cruise. We enjoyed the cruise just as much as our friends did. The captain and crew were friendly but professional. They wanted us to have a good time and see some sea life. The weather was gorgeous, the sea was glassy and we saw several different groups of dolphins and a whale! The time passed quickly and before we knew it the 2 hours were over. We will be returning. |

I'd gone Whale-watching about a month ago, out of Newport. It was awful. Wet, smelly boat. No whales sighted... not one! A few dolphins, some sea lions... no biggie. So when my friends suggested we try it again, I was less than enthusiastic. But they said they'd heard that Dana Point was having sightings, so I agreed. Lemme tell ya folks, I was NOT disappointed!!!!! We saw bunches of whales... Blue whales!!! A truly fascinating experience, loved every minute of it!!! I would HIGHLY recommend the Dana Point whale-watching to ANYONE!!! The Catamaran was especially nice, not too crowded... allowed everyone a great view of these magnificent creatures!!! The crew was nice, and very informative... unlike the experience at Newport. I can't wait to go again, and my friends all feel the same!!! FIVE stars... without hesitation!!! |
