1/2 Priced Catamaran Adventure Whale Watch Cruises

The experience on the boat was great, and we saw a huge (super pod?) of dolphins, which was wonderful. We did not know that we were actually really past the blue whale season, or we might not have booked the cruise. Not a big deal, but probably would have factored into our choice of this as a family activity. Overall, we had a good time.

Very informative guide! My son was repeating what he had learned on the tour. The staff were all very kind. The boat was large and beautiful.

This trip was the perfect amount of time - 2 hours. Although we didn't see a whale, it was nice to be out on the ocean on a nice boat on a warm sunny day. We saw lots of dolphins and the captain was very informative about the sea life that we encountered. Overall it was a pleasant day.

The cruise was very pleasant. Although it was near the end of the season and we saw only porpoises (not whales), it was a fun adventure and the cruise and fresh air were worth the trip. We also received free passes to take the cruise again (since we didn't see whales). It was a very smooth ride, and the crew were helpful and informative. We will definitely do this again, and bring more family along.

Didn't see any whales this trip, but did see some dolphins toward the end of the trip. Because we didn't see much, we got our tickets back to go another time. Thought it was great that they were that concerned that we saw more than a few dolphins! The boat is roomy with lots of opportunities to see what's out there. All in all, can't wait to go again!

I was initially concerned about a 2-hour catamaran ride. My 7 year old son loved it! I was the one popping pepto pills. The Captain was fantastic - my son followed him around asking questions and getting snacks the entire trip. We spent a week in San Diego - we did the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Legoland, Balboa Park, and the 2 things my son asked to return for were to hang out on the beach and go on the boat again. We didn't get to see any whales, but we saw Bottlenose dolphins, Common dolphins, and Sea Lions. I will definitely be booking again with Dana's Wharf! The Captain and his crewman were enthusiastic, patient, and welcoming!

Took our 4 kids on the Tuesday 1/2 price sailing. What a great time! Saw an enormous pod of dolphins, sea lions, & a gray whale with her calf! The captain was very knowledgeable and was able to capture & keep my kids attention! I would recommend wearing layers of clothing, it gets chilly on the water! Also, go as early in the day as possible. Less crowded! All In all, a magical time was had by all of us!

We went out on the half priced Tuesday catamaran trip. Weather and conditions were perfect. The captain and crew seemed very knowledgable about where to find marine life and provided a very informative narration on the way out. Their concern for the ocean was evident. We did not see any whales as we were really not at the right time of year for it but we did see a lot of dolphins and seals. The staff approaches the animals with respect and at the same time are able to optimize your experience by getting the dolphins to surf in the boats wake and manuever the boat to ensure everyone on board gets up close views. They explain the animals behavior in detail. We were also lucky to get an unexpected viewing of seals on some of the local rocks. I would really recommend this trip to anyone considering a whale or dolphin cruise. The price is great for the duration of the trip (2 hours). The boat is clean and well maintained. I plan on going out again when the grey whales are here and would also take any out of town visitors out for an enjoyable day on the ocean. There are nice little restaurants right by the docks too ...so if your cruise is one that does not include a meal it is nice to be able to have lunch or dinner right there on the water before or after the cruise. Little shops in the area as well ..nice for sourvniers for out of town guests. Dana Point is a pretty area so you can easily make a day of it. You will definitely get some great photographs !

Needed something to break up the typical mid-week day-dates I've allowed us to fall into. When I saw the 1/2 price whale watching (pronounced: dolphin watching) tour, I knew it was worth a shot. Low and behold, we lucked out and had one of the best days of the year for an ocean boat trip. No whales, but great people on board, and a very friendly crew that truely seems to enjoy thier work! thanks a million!
