too late in the season

it's unfortunate that the pelicans, diving birds, and seals makes you rethink your strategy to fish and to virtually only bottom fish. Catching fish was very limited but the captain tried hard and moved the boat more than he probably wanted. Still any day fishing was better than the best day of work.

I took my 5 year old grandson and couldn't have been happier with the boat and crew. The fishing was slow but the crew was enthusiastic and did their best to put us on a bite.

Crew was very nice and helpful. Fishing was very poor. Only 3 real (keeper) fish caught by entire group of 50-60 people, and they were small. My son did catch 3 mackerels that we threw back. Since it was his first fishing trip, he thought it was pretty cool. I'm not a fisherman and thought the trip got to be a little long. Boat moved quite a bit to find fish, but there wasn't much out there. Food on board was decent and inexpensive.

4 hours is plenty of fishing for me. Boat caught a lot of fish. Crew was very good and took care of everyone very quickly when they brought a fish on board.

It was a very bad day for fishing. Weather was perfect but the fish was not hungry.

The only complaint I have about my trip on 6/24/2013 is that they did not rotate fishermen back to the stern. Since most of the fish were caught back at the stern, rotating would have been good. nevertheless, the two largest bass landed were caught on the port side. Fish volume however, was at the stern. This crew was light years ahead of the crew we had last year at Davey's Locker in Newport Beach. Go with Dana Wharf if you have a choice. It does not matter how many fish you catch if the crew is great. And the crew is great at Dana Wharf.

Our group had mix of locals and vacationers. We saw several sharks, barracudas and a mix of fish we had never seen being caught and some released. The staff was very nice and helpful which made it easy to ask questions and get assistance. We had a light windbreaker, could have used heavier coat.
