mostly bass, but too small to keep. some more skilled folks caught bigger ones with lures. also caught some barracuda which are fun to catch.

Fun event that was not well handled

I thought the boat was great and the crew interaction was marginal based on the fact that they canceled a boat trip and combined two trips into one. This caused a lot bigger crowd and very little interaction with the crew as they hung at the back of the boat while we were forced to stay at the front because the Capt only rotated once which caused us to be away from the bait and crew for basically the whole trip. Will look at another boat company potentially for our next outing as this one was not good for the experience or value that what we got during the day. It was my sons first experience and he is not jumping up and down to go again when the little interaction he had with the crew consisted of them cutting his tangled line and than left me to re hook and sinker the line as the crew member went to the next person without a helping hand. I have gone on Seaforth in San Diego and had a better day with less fish caught just based on the fun crew on the boat. It is a service industry and I do expect some service for the money spent.

Not value for money

Not value for money, Captain suppose to do rotation to give everybody the same time at the back of the boat where they are chumming, and where all the deckhands focus he decided to let the first group stay an extra hour due to being early! We paid the same price ticket. The captain stayed in one spot the whole 5 hours where we continuously has to struggle with kelp in the way, and 1 hour before the time was over he said it is now to late to move and just stayed put.

The experience we had on our fishing day in Dana Point was awesome!!! The boat was super clean and accomidating! The crew was so great and helpful! Super nice guys! We had the best time fishing for my hubby's birthday! He loved it....guess it didn't hurt that he caught the biggest fish on the boat and won the jackpot!! Everyone from the check-in counter at Dana Wharf to the Captain on the Reel Fun was amazingly friendly and we would love a repeat of this day soon!! Cheers!!!

My 12 year old and I have talked about going for months but I was always a little nervous because I am not a fisherman and know nothing about it. We ended up catching a fish and had a blast. The crew were great and very helpful.

The management (folks in the office) were rude and unprofessional. The guys on the boat were great.

Fishing sucked.

There were four people in our group and two of us caught fish, 1 each both small mackerel. According to the fish counts that we could see online it looked like they were averaging 384 fish per day for the prior 5 days and on 4/5 38 fish and then a full boat load of people we couldn't have been more then 4 miles at the most from the port and we don't even catch an average of 1 fish per person. I realized that is why it's called fishing and not catching but to only catch 10 percent of what they had been averaging the prior 5 days.
