The crew was fantastic at helping us get started fishing since we hadn't fished in many years! They were fabulous and helped make this a very fun event! The boat was wonderful and had great food aboard! It was a fabulous experience that we will be sure to do again!

No fish, but good bites.

We had no keepers this time, we caught a few small fish and that's it. The crew were nice. We were hoping to catch more fish and keeper fish. We used live squid bait, but it didn't work for us. I wish they had that and the usual live little fish. I love fishing anyways, but this is too expensive for my pocket. I'd do it again, but only once or twice every year. We saw many pods of dolphins and even a baby one. Being on a boat is nice, but costs too much. We like to go to the San Clemente pier, because we only have to pay for parking and bait. For this activity we have to pay for the ticket, a day license, pole rentals(since ours are not the best), not to mention the optional jackpot, tips, and fish cleaning by the crew. We love it, but it's better just to go to the pier or do what some crazy people do, which is fishing on a kayak, which then it would be cheaper to buy a year fishing license. Try the boat thing, maybe you'll be more lucky than us and catch the big ones!

I had the best day ever fishing, 11 people on the boat we fished 1/2 day I took my Dad and he caught more fish than me. The boat was very clean and the 2 hands on the boat we very helpful they both helped us from setting up our rigs too getting your fish off the hook and in to your bag.

Good value if you bring children 14 and under

We didn't catch much in the way of fish (about 3 ounces of rock cod filet after the fish was cleaned!) but it was a fun day nonetheless. The entire haul for the boat was skimpy as well. Bass, Sheephead, Rock Cod. The best part of the trip was that each child under 14 years of age (with paid adult) gets free boat ticket, free rod/reel rental, and that child does not need a fishing license! This was an afternoon 1/2 day trip. I would recommend an early morning trip and possibly a 3/4 day trip if you are serious about catching something a little bigger than I did. I brought my own food, so I don't know how good the food was from the boat galley - but it was less expensive than I thought it would be - meals less than $10.00.

Can be better?

I been on this same trip before, and unfortunately was not satisfied as the same time. The boat is over crowded and the crow was not very friendly, its like they woke up on the wrong side of the bed. They were not enjoying their job and you could feel that they are there just because they have to be there. Lines get tangled from over filling the boat with people. Fishing wasn't that great also, not a lot of fish was caught, Would I go again? probably not

Spending a Delightful Day with Grandchildren
Fri, Oct 12, 12   10:00 AM JamesBrawner Male 70+ Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
During our family visit together in San Clemente, my two grandchildren, ages 14 & 17, spent a delightful day aboard the Clemente, fishing for Calico Bass, Sheepshead, and Halibut. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, catching several fish and being comfortably well-treated by the Capitain and First Mate of the Clemente. The boat was well-equipped and well-handled so as to enhance our trip. I would recommend this outing to anyone who enjoys the outdoors and spending quality time with family.

Strange adventure

We did the half day fishing trip. It was fun but not what I thought it would be. We caught a couple small fish. The birds that follow were so annoying. The seals were cute but really... How are you supposed to catch fish when seals and birds are trying to take your bait and get your catch before you get in the boat. The water was choppy and I personally think we should have gone out farther to get some real fishing done. If I'm going to stand up for 5 hours and pay what I did I sure hope they would try to take you where you have the best chance to catch some decent fish. The crew and people in the store we nice and helpful. Pretty area but next time I will do something more productive.
