Well organized, enjoyable venture. Fishing slow (that's fishing), but weather outstanding. Deck hands good. Captain worked to find fish. Take pleanty of sinkers and hooks. I took my grandson (13). He caught one fish and had fun. On 1/2 price night, get there early as it gets busy if you need to rent rods. Zerve people very friendly and helpful.

My great grandson (age 10) and I caught a lot of fish (although they were all too small to keep) and we had fun. It will be a day to be remembered by both of us. Good trip for a first timer.

The crew made the trip an enjoyable fishing experience. They were quickly on the spot to help you bring the fish aboard and take it off your hook.

This trip was with my son and his son. All were first timers on a commercial sport fishing boat. We rented poles. It seems the most success by others was with spoons or lures. The live anchovies were mainly eaten by the seals and pelicans. A suggestion to those renting equipment that maybe different types of bait (lures, etc.) might increase the catching would be appreciated. After all, persons renting equipment must be novices otherwise they would already have what is needed. The boat was fine, very clean and the galley and prepared breakfast sandwiches were very good and reasonably priced, which is appreciated. We enjoyed the experience and will do it again. But first I will need to get my own lures etc. The crew was fine and provided help when asked.

The fishing was not as good as we expected , but that is fishing!!!! We had a good time and my grandson was very excited. He lives in your area and I'm sure that he will be back to fish with you again and soon. The crew did a great job of tending to the needs of the fishermen. I would have no problem with going on your trip again.

Thought it was costly since there were very few fish caught. Should have gone to a few more spots.

Had a good day. Caught 8 rock cod. The skipper and crew of 'Reel Fun' were very helpful and social with the fishermen and children on the charter.

The crew was lot of fun and always available to help untangle lines, remove fish from hooks, and share tips. Dolphins followed the wake, gulls and pelicans were never far, sailboats were whipping nearby, a tall ship was seen at a distance and paddle boarders and surfers were closer to shore. Hayden, our 8 year old grandson caught a rockfish and we all agreed to return when the water was warmer.

Experience of a lifetime

Took our 8 year old grand daughter and her dad out (curious to see what a "giant squid" was all about). Sea was rough. It was windy and cold. Everything was against our adventure, but it was a resounding success. Captain and crew were gracious hosts. People were friendly and helpful (we obviously were new to squid fishing). We had a wonderful time despite all that was working against us. Planning on taking other grand kids out as opportunities arise from year to year. Enjoyed the squid fillets the next night for dinner. Affordable family experience.
