1/2 Day and Twilight Fishing Trips

It was impossible to enjoy the fishing while constantly trying to avoid the many pelicans surrounding the boat trying to steal our bait or take our fish. They were there for the entire trip. We spent most of our time dodging the pelicans or getting our lines untangled from the birds or from each other. Also the younger members of the crew were either surly or too inexperienced. Most of the fish were caught by experienced locals who new how to cast far, dodge the birds or untangle their lines quickly.

This was the first ocean fishing trip for my 9 yr. old Grandson and he was boiling over with excitement by the time we arrived at the warf. I had decided to book the 1/2 day boat since it was his first time, just to get a feel as to how he would handle this type of fishing among a group of people. He landed one of, if not, the first calico bass that day as well as a couple others. The crew was very helpful, polite and one crewmember gave my Grandson cuddos for his fishing skills, which made him feel pretty good. Fishing was a little slow that day but our Captain kept us on the kelp where the boat still managed to land over 50 bass and a few other species as well.That turned out to be more than the full day and 3/4 day boats combined. It was a fun day on the water and I don't believe we had even left the boat before my Grandson asked when our next trip was.

It was a great day but on a 1/2day trip, we spent way to much time traveling instead of fishing. We were in front of the Ritz Carlton catching a few when the Captn decided we would move to near the Pier in San Clemente, then back closer to the DP entrance.

Zerve was a great way to go to have tiks ready when you arrive. Fishing stunk that day.

Everyone on the trip had a great time will do it again for sure.

We had the best time with our 2 grandsons, 12 and 14 years old. Neither had fished much, so the crew was so helpful with them. We were talking with the boys and Grandpa said "this is kinda fun" the 12 years old said "Grandpa this is a Lot of Fun !" :). We had lunch, great cheeseburgers. (our hats off to the cook). Wonderful memories we will all have.

Good overall trip. Clean boat and courtious an d knowledgeable crew.

Had a great time caught some fish. Boats clean crew did great job. I will become a regular. See you on the boat.

I has hesitant when I learned the AM trips were no longer available and I had no choice but to buy 10 tickets for my two sons and their families (including 5 grandkids, 5 years through 12 years old) for this fishing trip which was a family gathering. We went on this trip June 2, 2012 5:30 through 9 pm. Three guys from the armed forces (Pendelton) came to the boat already pretty drunk. The staff continued to sell them alcoholic beverages. Their language was very offensive. At one time they called my son (who was battling a large fish, and is also a career Navy officer) "a son of a b****". That should not be allowed, and it really spoiled our trip. I will not return with my family in those circumstances, which is a shame, because I have really enjoyed other trips.

Overall it was a great experience. Everyone was polite and helpful. The fishing was slow but we all caught something.
