Great Crew

My son was celebrating his 12th b-day and as a tradition he chooses what he would like to do on his b-day with me (dad). He always chooses fishing. The weather was wonderful, but the fish weren't biting but the crew and captain were excellent and my son and I had a great time. It's all about building memories and our experience with Dana Sportfishing has always given us good ones even when the fish don't bite.

A fun day trip

We took our three children, ages 14, 12, and 10 on the 1/2 day fishing trip. We went on 1/2 day Tuesday to save a little money ($19.95 each), also had to pay about $13 each for rod & reel, and anyone over 16 needs a fishing license for about $14. The weather was chilly, so glad that we wore long pants and had sweatshirts on. The boat was a little rough, and our youngest got sick. Should have taken dramamine. The crew was very friendly and helpful and gave us simple lessons, helped us bait our hooks in the beginning, and took our fish off the hook. For those who wanted to take their fish home, the crew also filleted the fish. It seemed as though most people caught at least one fish. There was quite a variety - one man even caught a small octopus. Our family caught a total of 7 fish, but threw them all back. They had food available in the galley - breakfast burritos in the a.m., and burgers at lunchtime. I thought it was reasonably priced. We all had a burger, and they were great! You can also bring your own food on the boat, but no alcohol. They do sell beer on the boat. We all had a fun time, and were happy that we caught some fish. glad that we only did the half day trip, as it was even a little long for the kids.

nice crew but no fish

The crew was nice and helpful but nobody caught a fish. Seems a bit pricey ($119 bucks for all of us) for nothing. Kids were discouraged, probably won't do it again due to the cost verses output.

The weather was good and the accomodations were good also. The staff was helpful in setting up the proper gear and bait. Although the catch of fish was minimal, there was a grey whale pup that was seen, dolphins, and an awnry sea lion (I expect he was catching fish), All in all a good trip and reasonably priced. I expect to go on another sea fishing adventure this summer when the fish are a little more plentiful.

It was the first time on the water for my grand-daughters age 6 and 7. they had a great time. The crew was very professional and helpful. My grand-daughters and son-in-law especially enjoyed the great bugers.

I booked the trip knowing that fishing would be questionable. Your web site held true and that was OK. My son's had never been on the ocean fishing and it was worth the looks on there face's. We will be back.... Thanks

The staff was friendly and helpful. The fishing was slow due to the weather and they tried to get us to better fishing. All in our group caught at least one fish, just not big enough to keep.

Didn't catch any fish. Didn't even see dolphins or whales. Of course the ocean is beautiful and relaxing, but it was an expensive fishing trip for our group, and we were very disappointed.

Lovely Day for being out on the water.

The weather warmed up from previous days, so it turned out to be a lovely afternoon in hopes for a great or somewhat successful fishing trip. Met a lot a friendly people, but that was about it. They don't tell you really about the success rate of catching fish until about 1/2 through when you have not really even gotten a bite that the water is still to cold for fish to be caught. They should just let you know upfront that many excursions are coming up empty handed to say the least. This was on a Sunday. My other family members went out on their 1/2 price special two days later and it was worse, they didn't even have any bites. Your just paying for a boat ride. Might as well go whale watching for the same price, that way you know you are only going for a "scenic" ride. Most people on the boat caught nothing only 1 or at the most 3 people caught 1 fish each.
