Last year's Halibut Derby Prize Money Pot reached $1,365!
The 2nd Annual Halibut Derby will be running November 15th, 2009 - January 15th, 2010.
Join us today for an exciting day of fishing for halibut in the Dana Wharf Halibut Derby! The Derby runs every Friday from Nov. 15th, 2009 - January 15th, 2010.
$5 from each ticket sold goes into the Dana Wharf Halibut Derby Prize Money Pot.
At the end of the Derby, the angler who catches the largest Halibut (by weight) will receive 50% of the total Halibut Derby Prize Money Pot accumulated between 11/15/09 - 1/15/10.
The remaining 50% of the Derby Prize Money Pot will go to the winner of the Dana Wharf Halibut Derby Fish Off on January 23rd, 2010. The Fish Off will be a free trip for the anglers who catch the top 25 Halibut (by weight) during the Derby between 11/15/09 - 1/15/10.
Keep in mind that:
- No hook and hands will be eligible for prize money (you cannot hand the rod to someone else after you've hooked the fish - including crew members).
- The halibut derby trip targets halibut only (you will not be fishing for bass or rockfish like you can on a 3/4 day fishing trip).

What Is Not Included?
- Fishing Equipment: Rods and reels are available for rent for $12. Rod rentals include a small tackle package of 5 hooks and 2 sinkers.
- Fishing License Regulations: Anglers 16 years of age or older are required to have a fishing license before boarding the boat. One day licenses can be purchased in the shop prior to departure for $13.75.
- Food and Beverages: Our boats’ full service cash galleys offer beverages, snacks, and hot sandwiches for purchase.
- Gratuities: Tips for the hard working crew members are optional but greatly appreciated! Typical tips range from $5-10 per adult ticket.
