The captain did a great job of narrating where the whales were, and a history of migration. It was fun and informative.

We saw two gray whales and tons of dolphin. My six year old was fascinated. Very nice staff. Brought our 3 year old and baby too and felt they were safe on board.

We went out on a Monday in March. The weather was beautiful, which helped a lot, but really our guide was very interesting and informative. He kept our interest while working to find the best spots for us to watch the whales in their natural habitat. The company is very respectful of the sea life. Overall, we can't wait to go out again on our next trip to the area.

Nice boat -- No whales

Though this is supposed to be the peak season for migrating grey whales neither our cruise, nor the one that preceded us, saw a single whale. I've been on ten whale-watching excursions in different areas, and this is the first time I've come home without seeing whales. While the vendor provides rain-check tickets, good for another cruise at some future date, this isn't really satisfactory. When people are doing this as tourists from some far-away place, the odds that they will be able to use the rain-checks are very slim. We were hosting family from back East, and they were very disappointed.

This is an excellent excursion when there are whales; it's fun and a good boat ride when there are not. But if you are expecting whales you should contact them ahead of time to find out what is in season and how often they are being sighted. The captain/guide on our trip was extraordinary -- insightful and entertaining. I was concerned that we departed 20 minutes late -- though some of this time was made up on the back end of the trip. My only reason for not giving it a 5-star rating is that you might not see whales -- and for a trip billed as WHALE WATCHING that's a caveat emptor.

We got to see a dozen dolphins swimming around our bite and even got to see 4 whales! Our captain was awesome, very informative and kept us out there for an extra half an hour just to experience the whales. Thanks for the great experience!

Though I've been whale watching several times, and as a "California girl" have learned quite a bit about whales and sea life, I forget what a lovely adventure awaits me right in my own backyard, one that visitors to our state travel miles and miles to experience. So when I heard that this year there was an especially large number of whale sightings, I decided it was time to go again. I knew that even if not a single whale was sighted, sailing out of Dana Point Harbor would be a fun excursion providing gorgeous views of the OC coast. It was with great anticipation that we watched the horizon for those tell-tale puffs of water vapor. We were not disappointed! Our captain and crew tracked down several California Gray whales and two different kinds of dolphins (common and bottlenose) who frolicked around and ahead of our boat...providing ample opportunities for viewing and photos. All the while, we were provided with very interesting and educational commentary. Whales and dolphins are so awesome!! It seems I learn something new about them every time. This voyage was no exception --gets an A plus from me -- and I'm ready to go again.... soon!
