Sea lions, dolphins & a whale

Whale watching is of course dependent on whales being in the area to begin with, so in that regard we were lucky. That said, Captain Tom and Larry(?) did an amazing job of getting us where the action was, tracking a large pack of sea lions, a huge pod of dolphins and keeping us just astern of a gray whale and predicting with remarkable accuracy when and where it would surface. I got sea sick and Larry's good advice got me through the worst of it and had me feeling human before we got back to shore. Recommended. Dress warmly.

Took our three young kids (2, 5, 7) and we weren't sure if they'd like it. There aren't many places to sit so we were really wondering how it was going to play out, standing at the front of the boat the whole time. Long story short, the captain found a pod of dolphins - we're talking a thousand dolphins. Honestly, it was epic. The kids were ecstatic. The dolphins were literally swimming alongside the boat. We never saw a grey whale, but forget the grey whale...if you're lucky enough to come across the native dolphins, it is worth it. Seriously one of the top 10 best things ever experienced. The crew was courteous, funny, and knowledgeable. Good luck!

My companion and I enjoyed the experience very much and our guides found a whale and gave us the opportunity of viewing it for several minutes before encountering a large pod of dolphins . The crew of the vessel were very professional and were very conversant in the habits and behaviour of the animals which made our experience more enjoyable . We highly recommend the Dana Wharf organization to others who want to enjoy the experience we had .

The store staff was rude. The boat staff was great

Went to get our tickets and the cashier was shoving food in his mouth and said,"What do you want" as half his breakfast hit the counter. He found our tickets and we asked "okay where do we go?" A female barked out, "where do you think" and pointed around the corner to several boats in the dock. How about,"I'll be with you in a second?" Or it's the boat with the name of ...on the back. very UNPROFESSIONAL. On the other hand, the boat staff was awesome! They narrated the whole trip and apologized several times because we saw something but lost it. It wasn't their fault but they felt like it was. They really offered a lot of info and even gave us a refund to come back again! That is the ONLY reason I'd come back; definitely not for the sale people. They (cashier) treated us and others like we were interfering wiith their day by showing up.
