Whales and the biggest shark
Fri, Apr 9, 10   12:00 PM BRSCHIEBE Female 60-69 Combination Family With Children
this time we not only saw whales (from afar, as usual) but we also saw a HUGE shark up close - so close in fact it actually went under the boat leaving us wondering if its plan was to chomp off a chunk of boat. It has its mouth wide open as it approached us. Our captain tells us he never had seen a shark like this one! There was much speculating, but by the end of the trip, because of the determination of the crew and some fancy equipment, we were able to find out what it was. All the crew members seemed fun, knowledgable, excited, enthusiastic, and willing to respond to questions. I wish there was a way to get closer to the whales for a better view without disturbing them. We had a great trip!

This is one of the best activities ever! I am from Illinois and come to California to visit my son, daughter in law and two grandsons. We try to do as many fun things as possible, and this is the best! The staff interacted with us, making this a very educational activity, as well as lots of fun. I would certainly recommend -- whole heartedly -- a whale watch to any native Californian or visitor.

Perfect Sunday Afternoon

A friend and I decided to go on a whale watching excursion as something different to do for fun. WELL, we had no idea how much fun it would turn out to be. We met a friendly couple from Palos Verde standing in line and found out this was their 25th trip! We had a ball with them. The crew was great. Todd, the captain; Morgan, a naturalist; and George, chief cook and entertainer, made us feel like we were invited guests on a friend's boat. The burgers and sandwiches we had were delicious! We were lucky enough to see several fin whales on our outing. Todd and Morgan informed us about the whales' characteristics and directed us where to look so we could observe them in the water. The two hours went by so fast. It was a perfectly wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. There will be many more in the future.

Captain and crew were very helpful and lots of humor and fun. They found a pod of Dplphins and stayed with them for a long time so we could see and enjoy them all. We really wanted to see a whale but had not luck. Beautiful day anyway.

Successful Whale Watch

Our group was father, mother and adult son. Departed Dana Point appx. 12:00 noon 3/21/2010. Spotted (1) Gray whale about 1/2 way . Our craft maintained a safe distance from the whale, however various other craft converged on the sighting and probably compromised the sighting. That's OK, we all like whales!

Luck was with us!

Went onThursday, 5/18, at noon. Trip at 10am before us did not see any whales. However, luck was with us! After an hour out the Captain was about to give up on seeing whales and go to find some dolphins when we came upon two grey whales. We watched them briefly when he saw more further away, so headed toward them. At that point, we came upon three more grey whales and they stayed in the area and put on quite a show. We watched them make a number of dives and the pictures of the blows and tails rising in the air are beautiful. A sight never to be forgotten. The crew really put an effort into finding the whales and once found provided very good narative on what to look out for so we were sure to time the pictures just right. You take your chances on making a sighting, but it is well worth it.

We thought this was an interesting outing, well worth reduced senior rates. Left on time; returned a little late because the captain kept searching for whales. We saw them, as well as lots of nearby dolphins. Great fresh seafood on the wharf. Nice outing for visitors.

Wonderful!!!!

My husband and myself were very much thrilled with whole experience. We had previously gone out of San Pedro and Newport Beach. Although the drive from Placentia was farther the overall experience was super!!! We found that the boat was clean and maintained, the staff friendly and very informative when it came to the whole experience. We did not feel crowded into a small space to observe the whales and dolphins. I would actually recommend this Whale Watching Cruise to all my friends. Thanks for the wonderful time on the sea!!!!
