Although we had been out previously, this time we actually saw a WHALE. The boat's captain was able to keep the whale at about 50 yards to our port side and about 25 yards in front of the boat. we followed the whale for about 20 minutes and saw the tail multible times.

We had a wonderful time. The boat was great, clean and well kept. Staff and crew were very friendly. Very helpful and informative. Obviously, the most amazing part of the trip was the sea life. We actually saw a grey whale breech the water several times.... Ah-mazing!! The captain said it was the first whale breach he had seen all season. I had my cannon camera with telephoto lens and I captured incredible pictures. After spending plenty of time with the whale, the captain took us over to an area to sp

All of our experience was very positive except that it was sometimes difficult to hear and/or understand what was being said over the speakers depending upon where we were located. Safety information at the beginning was almost unintelligible. Perhaps it could be given before the boat is underway. Crew members answered questions in a professional and friendly way when asked. This was a very enjoyable experience!

First off make sure you find a coupon for the whale watching trip as it is way over priced. We went on a weekend so there were many people on the boat and many private boats on the water. We were the second trip of the day and it started off 1/2 hour late. Captain said they found whales at the end and could not break away from them. I completely understand this. Said boat would be ran above cruising speed to make up the time as we went to look for the pair of whales they left earlier We found the whales about 4 miles from the harbor. There were a number of private boats already following the whales. For about 1/2 an hour we had to listen to the captain tell us what morons (his words) the private boaters are. Granted they may have been getting close to the whales but constantly insulting them when they can not hear is not necessary. It got extremely annoying and my kid kept asking why he was calling them names. Bottom line we found whales but is was not the best experience. If you go go during the week when there is not as much boat traffic so you do not have to listen to the captain yell at the private boaters.

Very enjoyable and educational outing. The captains explanations and additional commentary were well worth it. I would like to point out for future customers that there are many discount deals available, including free trips on your birthday and 40% off if you use them to go to Catalina prevously.

Staff was friendly even if customers were not. We didn't see a whale, but they don't guarantee that you will. The dolphin's were cool.

Great Adventure

It was a great day at sea! We went on the 5pm trip and saw dolphins and sea lions. We didn't see any blue whales, but the trip was still awesome because it is well worth just the boat ride alone. You can move around the boat at your leisure (we were on the Sum Fun and it was not crowded) and if you stand at the bow you can get splashed with water. I would go back for a gray whale expedition in the winter. I would highly recommend this trip for vacationers and locals alike. We could see Saddleback Mountain. The only area for improvement might be for the Captain and Skipper to give more information on points of interest along the shoreline as the boat heads back to shore.

Best Whale Watching captain on the bay!
Sun, Sep 21  2:00 PM siberian1967 Male 40-49 Local Family With Children
We went out on a quiet day and from the outset the captain was clear "We have not seen much today but lets see what we can find!". For 40m or so it was pretty quiet and we saw a few flying fish. Normally on the bay you would see tons of dolphins, flying fish etc even if no whales are present. Everyone was preparing themselves for a no-sighting. Like a hunter though the captain steadily tracked out and monitored the VHF and spotted a blue whale crazy far away! We motored over to it quickly and and had a great view and the whale was known to the captain so once it dove he understood how long it would be down and how fast he had to go along the swimline to be right there when it popped back up. A bit later this same whale joined up with ANOTHER whale and we had an unexpected treat of seeing two blue whales swimming front the back, it was amazing. More then the captain though it was great to be on a boat that had an enthusiastic naturalist on it, was not over-crowded, had refreshments for purchase as well as plenty of shade that still had visibility. Just a great experience, we can't wait to go again (and we are locals!).

Good crew, great turnout of dolphins and whales

Combination of family from in state and Colorado, tour left on time and we were in the fishing boat. Partly due to the skill of the captain and partly due to the boat running on only one engine we were running slow and quiet enough to catch up with hundreds of dolphins and 6 grey whales. Skipper said it was the most amazing turnout he had ever seen. Everyone in our party agrees.

We had so much fun! The boat staff was so friendly and helpful. And we went straight to where the whales were that morning. The kids loved the whole trip! Thank you for a great day on the ocean!
