Did not see any whales

It was cold and windy, saw quite a few dolphins but no whales. We were disappointed as we had family from Europe and Chicago area with us.

We saw dolphin and whales and most appreciated both the information from the crew and the one crew member who came around to answer questions.

If you can enjoy 2 hours on the open sea, then you can't go wrong on this trip. We did see dolphins, and even a grey whale, but we delighted in the journey. They are honest about what you might see that day, so ask.

Good time, no whales

We saw two types of dolphins, which would be especially cool for those who have never seen dolphins, but we were really hoping for whales. Since we didn't see any, we got a voucher for half off if we go again. Was there in mid-Feb, and it was a nice time out on the ocean. Boat was nice and clean, and the crew seemed to be searching pretty hard. We'll give it another shot.

Awe inspiring! Breathtaking! I smiled the whole time. I was happy just seeing all the dolphins play but to actually spot a whale and see it's tail while hearing a live informative narrative was awesome. I was there with my niece because it was on our bucket list but I would highly recommend it for a date. There's food, a bar and even the NFL on the tv during the trip and it's the smoothest ride.

Try it. You will love it.

In addition to the beauty of the ocean and the ocean mammals, the captain and his commentary were impressive and entertaining. His knowledge of the mammals and the sea is extraordinary. Our little group highly recommends this experience and Dana Wharf Whale Watching.

Exciting Trip

We often take visitors to special things in the area, and whale watching is one of the true highlights. This trip we found and followed a grey whale for about 20 minutes, getting his rhythm, seeing the deep dive with tail flop a number of times. Really exciting. I love it because this is where the whales live; it's not SeaWorld. The boat trip up and down the coast is also very beautiful. I'll be back, alone or with visitors, many times again.

Great trip, crew really knew what they were doing

The crew tried very hard to find whales and did find one. However they found 50 dolphins that wanted to run with the boat. Very cool.

My wife and I are spending most of the winter in this area rather than in Kansas City. My cousin and his wife visited us and wanted to see the whales. We found the Dana Point site online and decided it sounded better than the site downtown. We had gone to Catalina before from Dana Point. We enjoyed the trip very much. Got to see Bottle-nosed Dolphins, at least one Gray Whale (on several occasions) and another species of dolphin (can't remember the name) that looked white. Everyone in our group thought the trip was well worth the fee, and we all would do it again.
