Great 89th birthday gift

It was my father's 89th birthday, he had never been on the ocean and eager to see Whales and Dolphins. While we did not see a whale, we had the adventure of our lifetime as the captain spotted a large group of dolphin of all ages. They stayed close to our boat for what seemed like and hour. It was an incredible experience for my father as well as my 19th year old son. We had an amazing time!

Fantastic trip and great value for money

My wife and I took this trip during our vacation from the UK on January 24th . We saw 2 grey whales on their migration, but this was not the highlight for us as we have seen whales up much closer in Newfoundland, Canada. The best part for us was the large pod of, according to our guide 1000+ common dolphins. They were all around the boat, in front, behind, to the sides. This was fantastic. If you want to see dolphins and whales don't go to Sea World, take this tour! Brilliant, and with very knowledgeable guides!

It was just OK

We were out there for around 2 hours. It was a nice and pleasant day. We only saw one grey whale going by. Seeing a grey whale surface and then dive down showing off its beautiful fluke, was spectacular. But somehow I expected more out of this short trip, I was hoping to see more whales, maybe some species of dolphins but for me , personally, after the 15 minutes of watching the beautiful whale, the trip was kinda flat. Not much else to see but the ocean. I guess its all luck, one day you see everything, the other not so much.

Outstanding whale watching trip

There's never a guarantee of seeing whales but we saw a pod of 4 whales plus an individual whale. Then we saw hundreds of dolphins - 3 different species. Crew was informative and very friendly. Because it was the last trip of the day (the 2pm boat) we stayed out an extra half hour or so because there was so much to see.

A wonderful experience and a wonderful day!

My wife and I enjoyed everything about this experience. From the online order and payment, which included great directions and useful information, to the easy check in process, uncomplicated boarding process and the friendliness of the crew. Once underway, it was a delightful sailing day. The captain and crew were very knowlegable and provided very clear information about where we were going, what we were seeing, and lots of indepth knowledge about the mammals we saw. To be clear, we did not see any whales on this day, but that did not diminish our enjoyment. We saw a pod of risso dolphins that were awesome to watch and stayed with them for at least 30 minutes. We also cruised over to another area to see seals and sea lions. You can't blame the operators for whales not being in the area. All in all, this was an excellent day at a very reasonable cost. Don't think twice - this is a good value!!! PS: The boat and the ride were very comfortable, but I recommend you grab a seat on the top deck for great viewing and comfort. PPS: Dana Point Harbor is a pretty nice destination in and of itself. Come early (for better parking) and stay late for a latte or sunset at the marina.

A pleasant two hours

Although you simply can't predict the whale's behavior and therefore there is no way to know if you will see one, the boat is clean, the crew is professional and sea lions and dolphin sightings were exceptional. Some locals brought wonderful picnic lunches and enjoyed the warm weather cruise.

Great ship, great crew and great viewing. A very pleasant two hours exploring the Dana point seas and wildlife. Tuesdays are two for one days but a great bargain on any day. A snack bar with drinks, hot and cold, alcoholic and non completed the adventure.

I am a grandfather 75 years old. I went with my wife who is 66 years old. We moved around the boat with little trouble, even though it was rocky at times. We went in early January. There was a little wind, but that was expected. We knew it would be a little cold, so we dressed appropriately. The inside of the boat has snacks and drinks for sale. The boat has a very heavy zippered plastic covering on the sides of the boat that completely cover the inside of the boat. You could see out. It was warm in there. We stayed outside at times on the front of the boat and saw the whales as they swam around and made themselves visible to us. We also saw lots of dolphins, and some seals. For the money it is a wonderful trip. Took lots of photos to show our kids. Would recommend this to anyone young or old. Bud from Orange County, California.
