Excellent Value

If you can get passed the pretencious, snobby, plastic locals that live outside of their means, in a dream world - the area is actually really nice. The ship it self was very clean, well maintained, with very well educated staff. I felt safe the entire time, as did my girlfriend. We were just looking for something to do to get away from Disneyland for a day, and this seemed like a good idea. We saw grey whales surface several times, and some dolphins jumping, as well as sea lions (these can be seen at pretty much every rocky point on the west coast, but still interesting). There are food and drinks on the ship, and the one guy who's name I can't remember - he actually stays on deck with you and is full of useful information about the area. I definitely will return and do this again, and highly recommend it for couples or families.

The trip was nice and fun adding a lil education for the kids would be a nice tip.

Nice Boat Ride

The coastline was beautiful and it was neat to see Sea Lions. We didn't see whales or dolphins, so I can't recommend it on that account. They did provide a coupon we can use to go again for free. The coupon supposedly never expires.

Mega Pod of Dolphins - Great FUN!

After a valiant effort to locate a viewable whale, our captain headed further out to sea to discover a Mega Pod of Dolphins! Hundreds of them! It was amazing and they were all around the boat. Good fun! Great experience!

My friend from Oklahoma and I went on the whale-watching cruise on 1/20/08 (sunday). The staff were kind and professional, and we had a wonderful trip. We did not see any whales, but we did run into a wonderfully playful group of "common dolphins" (i would say around 100) playing in the ocean. The captain turned the boat around so we could experience the dolphins to the fullest. it was delightful i would definitely recommend it to anyone! i will definitely take my family when they visit later this spring.

Perfect Family Outting

Hello Everyone, Thanks so much for a wonderful afternoon. I took my whole family whale watching and everyone had a blast. Although there were no whales we found the crew both friendly and knowledgeable. There was enough sea-life to make it memorable and a couple hours at sea was great. I have and will recommend this to anyone. We had such a great time we will probably be back in March for another chance to hopefully see whales. Thanks again!

OK trip, but saw no whales...
Sat, Jan 19  10:00 AM bwatson Unspecified 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We went on a beautiful clear January 19th morning (the 10 a.m. trip). Friends had told us there haven't been many whale sightings in the last few years off the Dana Point coast. . However we decided to go anyway. For seven landlocked Utah people, it was just nice to get out on the ocean. We first saw a large group of dolphins. We followed the dolphins for 15-20 minutes (or they followed us) then the captain said we were going to look for whales. We saw no whales, but did see sea lions, pelicans, and other birds. The view of the coast was great all during the trip. It was chilly with the wind blowing, and a coat was an absolute necessity. I would have liked a little more talking by the captain (or crew--whoever was doing narration). They didn't say much--would have been nice to have them tell some stories, or identify land marks, or something--they spoke about twice in the 1.75 hours we were on the water. Food was advertised, but we didn't purchase any. Maybe they should rename it the 'Dolphin watching experience'. It was an ok trip--3 stars out of 5. I would do it once, but probably not again.

Great time

We all had a great time and found the guides very educated regarding the dolphins and sea lions we saw. We did not see a whale which was disappointing. Maybe the activity should be called "Ocean adventure" instead of a Whale Watch because there is no guarantee a whale will be seen, yet that's what you're selling.
