We had a great time on the whale watching cruise in Dana Point. It was a beautiful day and the waters were nice and calm, absolutely perfect. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. I have strongly recommended the cruise to friends and family. It was a great experience!

It was a great day. The crew was friendly and enthusiastic. The boat was clean. We saw a whale and followed it for about 35 minutes. Then took off and found a school of dolphins about 500-600 strong. The crew was very professional. My sister was in from Pennsylvania and enjoyed the cruise thoroughly.

We had a wonderful time on the whale watch. This was not our first time, since we live locally. This time however, I took my son so that he could film the whales for extra credit for his "Living Sea" class.....we were not disappointed. On this trip we were lucky enough to see an 80 foot "Fin" whale. We watched the whale for about 20 minutes..........my son was thrilled to get so much "good footage". The day we sailed, April12, 2008....could not have been a more beautiful day!!!! Warm and sunny!! Perfect. Also, the crew was very knowledgable regarding the area and see life that we were seeing. It was a very fun day and it worked out well for my son......he did very well on the extra credit project. Thanks again, Heather Nicholls, Laguna Niguel, CA

We really enjoyed this activity and I will definitely do it again when people come to visit. The boat was great with lots of options for sitting, standing, or being inside. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable. We did see whales which was awesome.

A total disappointment

This was supposed to be the highlight of my California vacation. I had convinced the other members of my party that this was a "must do" and that we would see the things we'd viewed on the Nature channel with our very own eyes. I read so many positive reviews from people who had posted them just the week before, and was sure that we'd have a similar experience. I know that nature can be unpredictable, but all of the posts from the previous week insisted that we'd see hundreds of dolphins and I had no reason to think that we wouldn't have the same experience. The few negative posts I read were related to fishing, so I was sure we'd see plenty of dolphins and if we were lucky, a whale or two. We saw NOTHING!!!! We sailed for two hours and saw absolutely nothing! I was so totally disappointed. Their "no refund" policy guarantees that if you don't see dolphins or whales, you can sale again for free. I live in Maryland and probably won't be making this trip again, so it is little consolation and the guarantee is worthless. If you still choose to go, be aware that they cannot guarantee any sightings. Thankfully it didn't cost a lot. I'm just glad that we didn't purchase the four hour cruise.

The Guides were very nice and one offered to take pics of the whales because we kept missing them in the shot. All the guides were informative and would walk around and see if you had questions and would answer in detail. Will Defintly do again. All of them were very honest and we got to see a mom whale and her calf. Was completly worth it and absloutly loved the experience. Thanx you GUYS!!!!!!!!!!

We saw a big nursery pod of dolphins which was great. My girlfriend and other friends loved them. We saw a grey whale with a calf and they liked them too but when we watched them surface for about 5-10 seconds every few minutes for a half hour it was a bit repetitive. It was good, we came to see whale and we saw them. Thanks a lot!

We couldn't believe the amazing two for one deal offered by Dana Wharf . A two hour cruise out of Dana Point on a lovely April afternoon would have satisfied. It being so late in the whale watching season, we were optimistic, but not resolute. Soon out of port, the ship was surrounded by pods of playful dolphins, riding the wake, jumping and frolicking all around. The captain had to circle and speed so we could leave the dolphins to their feeding, but they kept following! When the cruise seemed to be winding to an end without sight of whale, one very determined passenger at the bow of the ship spotted a breach in the water surface on the distant horizon. The captain immediately stopped the engine and all aboard waited eagerly staring transfixed at the "footprint" left on the water. Soon emerged a nursing mother gray whale and her calf. She was returning back north with her newborn by her side, surfacing often with a spray. While the ship was drifting with no propulsion the whales swam ridiculously close by and seemed almost interested in the vessel full of curious stares floating in their pathway. It was a wonderful and memorable once-in-a-lifetime experience, even the crew was genuinely excited.
