Once in a lifetime experience!

We saw an amazing pod of killer whales on the voyage! The crew was so excited and truly related this excitement to the whale watchers. We "played" with the whales for over an hour. We also saw sea lions, dolphins, and a large yellow sun fish. The boat was large, clean and had plenty of seating or standing room for all. The rate for this activity is bargain basement low! Don't be fooled by the reasonable rates- this whale watching voyage could prove to be the adventure of a lifetime! I would reccomend this for familes with small children, business groups and seniors. Very landlubber friendly! Thanks to Capt. Tom and his crew!

Specially in California, nice sunny day on the oceanside will never forget. All the services by Zerve well scheduled on time and the narrator on the boat was excellent too. We had very good time and had fun. I will recommand if you stay one night in the resort by the sea that added great value for our trip. Thank you Zerve!!!

Great way to enjoy a Sunday Afternoon!

Our 2pm Sunday cruise provided our first visit to Dana Point Harbor. We enjoyed the live music performed in the courtyard, courtesy of the Harbor Music Series. There were several restaurants and snack shops. While waiting at the dock for our boat to arrive, we watched kayakers and enjoyed the sea lions as they basked in the sun with flippers pointed upward. The boarding and launch for this cruise was quick and our crew was very excited to inform us that a pod of fin whales had been active for most of the day. Our boat speeds out and after forty minutes, the crew points out the whale spouts as we slow down and approach the area. There are three whales and we're able to view their dorsal fins and watch them blow out spouts of water into the air. There is no breaching or tale slapping behavior. One whale actually glides under the starboard area of our boat. Our boat is the only one out there and we're able to move 360 degrees around the deck. Our boat keeps stride with the whales and the crew helps point out where the whales will surface. Our crew is located up above the passenger level. Several passengers ask the crew to take photographs of their group from this upper level. The crew is very friendly and very obliging. Prior to our return to the harbor, a commercial sailboat arrives with a dozen tourists. Their adventure looks fun until one realizes that their viewing area is limited to the back of their boat and their view of the whales was often blocked by the boat itself. We heard a lot of disappointed moaning from their direction.

We saw a big nursery pod of dolphins which was great. My girlfriend and other friends loved them. We saw a grey whale with a calf and they liked them too but when we watched them surface for about 5-10 seconds every few minutes for a half hour it was a bit repetitive. It was good, we came to see whale and we saw them. Thanks a lot!

While we did not see any gray whales, it was still worth the afternoon and money watching the captain and dolphins play. Due to the expertise of the crew, they were able to create circular patterns that provider us bystanders the viewing of dolphins doing acrobats in the wake of the boat. Truly awesome!

We saw a "dolphin super-pod"!!! No whales, though. Plenty of room on the boat, friendly staff. Nice passengers. Beautiful just to be on the water. A few notes, which weren't negatives for me, but could be for others: The "whale-sighting guarantee or free trip next time" includes dolphin sightings, and if we hadn't seen so many dolphins, I might have been dissappointed. Fortunately I read the fine print so I was aware that the guarantee included dolphins. The restrooms weren't stocked well, but fortunately I'm the kind of person who comes over-prepared for such things. The bar on the boat is cash only, so bring dollars. There is an ATM in the shop where you get your tickets. If you get seasick, they have motion sickness pills there too. I'll definitely go again for blue whale season.

Whale watching is a great activity for people of any age. While we were out we saw 2 whales & watched for at least 20 minutes, plus saw a few dolphins and lots of California Sea Lions. The boat crew was very knowledgeable and helpful in pointing out the wildlife and telling a bit about them. They were very friendly from the first greeting to inviting us to come back again when we left. I will definitely go whale watching at Dana Wharf again.
