2 Gray Whales Spotted

We followed 2 gray whales for a long time and then we came up on a mega pod of dolphins which was equally exciting and even more entertaining. Our guide was very informative and enthusiastic. It was well worth the money for what we saw.

We enjoy our local area and businesses and we are lucky enough to live in an area with such great outdoor adventures. As always Dana Wharf provides a great experience and no matter if we see whales or not it is always a good time on the water. The only issue I have is that there are so many options on ticket prices. We saw a variety of prices from $45 down to $15. Please standardize this as much as possible

Best 2 hours I have spent in DP in years

The Captain and crew went beyond duty to make sure you were not only enjoying yourself on the mini excursion but it was incredibly informative. I did not feel like a spectator at Sea World but learning a true appreciation of why we were seeing the whales and dolphins and the immense respect for their trek to and from Alaska to Baja. We were lucky to see a mom and her calf and a few other whales. And we ended up getting a 30 minute show by thousands of dolphins who seemed very happy to see us and showed off their swimming skills. So nice to see these beautiful mammals in the wild. I will go again and definitely recommend it to all my friends and family.

Disappointed

We didn't see any whales on the 2 hour cruise, just dolphins which I see from our shore in San Clemente year around. No mention was made of a free ticket to return if no whales had been sighted and I had been told that was part of the deal.

Whale Watching Date

My boyfriend and I had a great time last Friday, even though we didn't see a single whale. Our captain tried really hard, but for what ever reason, they weren't in the area at that time. They did see them that day, but not on our trip that left at noon. But we saw several hundred playful Pacific Bottle-Nosed Dolphins and got to watch their acrobatics for at least 30 min. This is my second trip with Dana Wharf Whale Watching tours, and I will be back again. Totally professional operation.

Gray whales & a megapod of dolphins

I have never seen so many dolphins together at one time; hundreds leaping and cavorting. The whales (3) showed their tails. Sun was shining, it was a great 2 hours.

Meet a whale

It was a great experience to see the whale. It was little far from the boat and I could not see them in big. But there is a rule to be in distance, so it is understandable. It is a disappointment that I did not see even one dolphin this time. I should come back again.

What an awesome trip!

I would highly recommend booking this trip if you're interesting in seeing whales and dolphins really up-close within a couple of miles off our coast. We were very lucky to see some gray whales on their migration south to Mexico. We followed one for about 30 to 40 minutes, keeping a respectful distance, watching as she spouted. We saw several tail flips and she even breached four or five times and splashed back down. The whole deck erupted in applause! Don't forget your camera and binoculars! The captain and crew were very informative and shared lots of information on these magnificent animals. He was also communicating with other boats to find out where the best viewing areas were. As the trip was drawing to a close, the captain spotted a pod of dolphins cruising and soaring out of the water. There were hundreds! He cruised right into the middle of the pod, explaining that they knew exactly where we were and that they were not in any danger. You could almost reach out and touch them as they jumped and played just out of reach. We were on the catamaran which was very roomy with plenty of space on deck for everyone. Also, I must say the boat was spotless. There is lots of seating both on the front and rear deck and if you get a little chilly, the snack bar are is fully enclosed with clear plastic all around for a full view. As this was out first trip, we took many pictures and brought home lots of memories. We'll definitely be back! Thanks to the front office, captain and crew for a fantastic day!
