Borrrrring!

This was the most boring thing I've done in a while. The Captain of the boat didn't tell us what we were doing or what we were looking for. He let us know about a half an hour into the tour that there were a pack of Sea Lions on the bouy that was right in front of us. The next hour and a half the Captain didn't say one word until we were pulling back into the harbor to let usknow that we will be getting refunds! I've been whale watching out of Dana Point before and the Captain made the trip worth while for us! He would tell jokes and let us know what we were looking for and he just made so much of an effort to keep us entertained! We didn't see any Whale or Dolphin and that's just Mother Nature, but the Captain couldn't have been more speechless! And he didn't seem to make much of an effort to search for any Whale or Dolphin either.

A pleasant experience even w/o whales

We went to see whales, but even in their absence, we had a good time. The captain really tried his best to find some for us to see, but in the end, we were unsuccessful. We did see see lions, and the captain gave us a lot of interesting information about them. We were also on the sunset trip, and it was beautiful seeing the sun approach the ocean. They also gave us free passes to come back because we didn't see any whales, which I thought was a really stand-up practice.

I had a great time. It was a beautiful day. We did not see any whales but I understand that's not something that can be controlled. We saw a lot of dolphins and that was great - the crew was enthusiastic and informative about those as well. I'm a college student so I think everything (all fun activities) should be under ten dollars, but this was a good deal compared to the other whale watching companies I looked at. I would love to come back for a half-price Tuesday or Thursday (I paid the full price to go on Valentine's Day). Thanks!

It was a very good two hour tour. Boat was clean and not over crowded although there were quite a few people on board. I am going again with other family members in April.

Great captain and mate, but poor scheduling

The captain and mate were dedicated to finding exciting wildlife during the tour. It was amazing. I wish the scheduling company had done a better job with our charter however, as we were put on a boat with a group that had charter the trip for a private party. We felt as if we were intruding.

I would highly recommend booking this trip if you're interesting in seeing whales and dolphins really up-close within a couple of miles off our coast. We were very lucky to see some gray whales on their migration south to Mexico. We followed one for about 30 to 40 minutes, keeping a respectful distance, watching as she spouted. We saw several tail flips and she even breached four or five times and splashed back down. The whole deck erupted in applause! Don't forget your camera and binoculars! The captain and crew were very informative and shared lots of information on these magnificent animals. He was also communicating with other boats to find out where the best viewing areas were. As the trip was drawing to a close, the captain spotted a pod of dolphins cruising and soaring out of the water. There were hundreds! He cruised right into the middle of the pod, explaining that they knew exactly where we were and that they were not in any danger. You could almost reach out and touch them as they jumped and played just out of reach. We were on the catamaran which was very roomy with plenty of space on deck for everyone. Also, I must say the boat was spotless. There is lots of seating both on the front and rear deck and if you get a little chilly, the snack bar are is fully enclosed with clear plastic all around for a full view. As this was out first trip, we took many pictures and brought home lots of memories. We'll definitely be back! Thanks to the front office, captain and crew for a fantastic day!

Great Experience; Highly recommended

My husband and I had our 2 nephews in town from Chicago (ages 14 & 17); since it was too cold for the beach, yet we wanted to get them near the ocean, we thought this would be a great way - affordable and on the water. We didn't know what to expect as far as the wildlife, but we hit the jackpot - whale, pod of 100's of dolphins, sea lions and then a mother whale w/calf - the experience was amazing and the pictures incredible - they look like something you'd see on TV. On the flip side, my sister was in with her family (3 boys, ages 8-11) a month ago, and they did this. Unfortunately, they didn't see any marine life. However, they did get 2 hours out on the ocean and got their money back (just as it was promised ). While the experiences were on the both ends of the spectrum in regards to the marine life seen, the experiences were both great. I have already recommended it to some friends @ work and I will be doing this again!
