Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

The crew was amazing, not only did we get to see a whale, which they chased up the coast line( not literally) , but we got an interesting tour of the beautiful homes on the cliffs north of Dana Point. They answered our questions and made sure everyone had a great time. I would highly recommend Dana Wharf for whale watching and fishing as well.

First, the crew was friendly, conversational, and knowledgable. We left the harbor and they explained the process they would go through to find whales. On three different occasions we ran in to dolphins but the whales. First we saw and followed a blue whale. While waiting for the blue whale to surface a minke whale crossed our bow. After numerous close sitings of the blue whale we headed in only to cross paths with either a large minke whale (or more likley a fin whale). What a day - we may have been lucky that day but the crew added to the experience - I highly recommend it.

Attended the Sunday 12:45pm kids fishing charter. Very friendly group of people working here. Highly recommended!

Took my kids for their first fishing trip and we had a great time. We didn't catch anything but the experience was a blast and the kids want to go again. The crew was awesome and very helpful. Thanks for a great time.

This was the very first time for my 7 year old son, my husband, and myself on a fishing vessel. My father, who has gone deep sea fishing before, also joined us for this trip. We were so impressed by how clean and efficient the staff was, and not to mention, very kind. Everything was explained perfectly and the captain as well as the deckhands were very helpful and polite and very energetic along the trip. We didn't catch anything on this trip, but we sure had a fabulous time and we look forward to doing it again soon. Keep up the good worK!

first of all larry and sean were terrific...so informative and we saw things that rarely had been seen so we were lucky for sure! whales, dolphins, sea lions...the works! we loved it and so did our friends....absolutely wonderful!! great job guys!!! :-) monique djerf and family ....and our friends from OH!

I went on the 2:00 catamaran whale watching cruise last Saturday (July 24th) and it was AWESOME!!! The men running the boat were knowledgeable and friendly. We were super lucky and saw a blue whale, a minke whale, a huge pod of dolphins, a sun fish, and of course sea lions. The captain of the ship said it was VERY special to have seen all that we did, and that normally they don't see so much. Overall, it was a wonderful time for the whole family. We plan on making it an annual trip!

We really enjoyed our whale-watching trip, even if we didn't find any whales. We did see hundreds of common dolphins, which were very exciting to watch. The new catamaran was beautiful, and allowed for very close viewing of the dolphins. The crew was very informative and nice, making for a nice overall experience. We will definitely be back to try and see Blue Whales again!

My wife, our 4 kids aged 5 to 12, father-in-law and myself went on the 1/2 day (5 hour) morning trip on a Wednesday. Not too crowded - maybe 20-25 passengers plus the crew on the Sum Fun boat. Very cool guys working the boat - all very helpful with the kids and myself. I could tell they were focused on everyone having as good a time as possible. This was my 3rd or 4th time going out on one of Dana Wharf Sportfishing's boats - always fun!

The two hour timeframe was perfect to keep everyone interested.

We enjoyed the cruise. No whales but lots of fun watching dolphins. Arrived on dock at 0930 but due to lack of a designated line later arriving passengers boarded before us to claim better viewing positions.

This is definitely the ebst boat to go on for whale watching. Larry and Mike are great and they also have a bar, drinks and food onboard. We had a great time and would recommend to everyone
