Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

The whole family had a good time on this trip. We had two 4 yr olds so we were a bit worried about how they would do and it all went fine. I think however that about 90 min into the 2 hr trip both girls started to feel some motion sickness. We had brought crackers and juice with us along with other snacks and that seemed to settle their stomachs. We saw two whales and a huge school of dolphins as well as some sea lions. Boat personnel were very nice and it all went well. There are tables and benchs on top of the boat so if you want that, get in line early to get first dibs. Also if you want a good spot at the front of the boat. Set your camera on telephoto and sports speed.

We had a great time and yes we saw several whales. The amount of people on the boat was just right with everyone able to see because it wasn't crowded. We went during the Festival of Whales and the whole event was wonderful and we hope to make it again next year!

We had so much fun! The boat staff was so friendly and helpful. And we went straight to where the whales were that morning. The kids loved the whole trip! Thank you for a great day on the ocean!

Zerve staff were helpful, tickets were easy to obtain. Dana Wharf directions/parking are straightforward. Two hours is more than enough time (nine/twelve year old boys would have been really bored by anything more). Saw 4 grey whales, captain gives informative commentary.

Although the ride was a bit chilly (you may want to add on an extra layer to those you plan on wearing), the crew was very friendly and the scenery was great. We saw a number of gray whales and the boat's pilot did a nice job putting us in a reasonable position to view them. We had a great time.

The captain did a great job in making sure we saw the whales and gave us interesting history and stories in between sightings.

The day was cloudy and cold until we got out on the water, then the sun broke through and it was beautiful. We watched a pod of 3 whales for about 30 minutes or more, then caught some sea lions napping on a buoy. My granddaugher -age 14- absorbed a lot of information from the naturalist and really enjoyed our outing. We will definitely do this again.

Seeing the whales was indescribably stirring. The catamaran crew were great; marine biologist on board very informative and made the experience much more meaningful. Logistics couldn't have been easier or smoother. We had a fantastic time and are looking forward to going again.

i will be back again. i would love to go out for 4 hours. i took the 2hr as an intro cruise and i will be back. the catamaran is very smooth and quiet, not crowded which is a plus for a photographer. i loved the wine and beer availabel. Lucky was great!!

Our guide went out of his way to make sure we saw the grey whales. He was an expert who shared info in such a way that we learned while waiting to see the whales. His commentary didn't interfere with the sightings and enhanced our experience with these magnificent creatures.

We've done this a few times and never cease to be amazed at what we see. This past Saturday we saw three grey whales for about 75% of our two hour cruise. Even the times when we have not seen whales we have seen a lot of other wildlife (dolphins, etc) in their natural habitat. Great outing.
