The guys on the boat were great, and very informative. We saw whales at a distance, and dolphins up close. It was a beautiful day, and was enjoyed by all!

Glimpses of a few fin whales

This was the 11:00 am whale watch on the Dana Pride, instead of the catamaran. We had brief glimpses of several fin whales. The watch was hampered by rain and windy weather. Overall, it was not a good whale watch.

Fun outing with the dolphins

We went on the $32 whale watching 2-hour tour. While we didn't spy any whales, we enjoyed playing with the dolphins on a fairly calm sea under sunny skies. The captain gave a nice commentary as we left the harbor and we enjoyed learning from him about sites on shores as well as the (unseen) sealife under us. He seemed genuinely disappointed that he couldn't make the whales appear. But we had a nice time and recommend this family friendly cruise. Some on our outing were rather seasick. Take Bonine or Dramamine even if you think you will not need it. Also sucking on mints while on the waves is helpful. You will need a hat or visor to enjoy the fresh air seating. Binoculars were very helpful.

Hmmm... easy and free parking... a two hour cruise along the southern california shore... a nice boat with clean bathrooms and full bar/food capability, inside and outside sitting/standing options.. nice crew AND we saw 100s of dolphins and AND a BLUE WHALE ... all that for 1/2 price (because I went on a Tuesday) on an already lower then other companies cost... oh and a guarantee of a free ticket for another cruise if you dont see anything... not sure how you can really beat that value for your money...... I enjoyed it so much I came off the 12-2 cruise and rebought another ticket for another trip out that same day !

I enjoyed the professionalism of the staff. The captain (driver) was very informative about the sea life and narrated this during our travel. There were numerous dolphins sitings...dolphins diving in sequence, often 3 to four at a time and as many as a group of about 10 or more. There were even baby dolphins. The dolphins came alongside the boat and even had fun chasing the boat as we sped off. It was charming and entertaining. I saw flying fish and toward the end a blue whale. What an amazing day.

These guys do know there stuff, as nature was tough to find but they tracked a blue whale and I was able to see the largest mammal with my girl. Then we saw 100's, yes hundreds of dolphins up close. What a way to spend 2 hours on the ocean.

We were very fortunate to see two blue whales almost immediately after clearing the jetties. The captain tagged along with them for over an hour, allowing for many sitings. On the way back to the harbor, we came across some Risso's dolphins...a first for me. The crew did a wonderful job making sure everyone knew where to look and when as well as provide lots of interesting facts on what we were seeing. My grandchildren and I had a wonderful time.

Worth the Money

Purchase of tickets was quick and simple. Location was easy to find, clean, neat docks. Boarding was quick and easy. Blue Whales spotted within ten minutes of heading out to open water. Three quarters of cruise was spent whale watching and managed to see a pod of Risso dolphins too. A clear beautiful day. Informative staff, and most importantly...not too crowded. Plenty of room to move about and get those saught after pictures. The catamaran is a smoother ride however, if you are prone to motion sickness think about taking some Dramamine an hour prior to departure. We had a fabulous time and have already recommended this trip to others.

Dolphin watching, not whale watching
Fri, Nov 11, 11   3:30 PM zachbyc Male 30-39 Local Family With Children
The water was calm and we had a clear sky; the ride to the ocean was full of excitement and expectation to see whales up close and personal. Time passed by, we saw disturbance on the surface of the water and few fins peeked out, surely some playful dolphins surrounded our boat and started showing off their diving skills. After the dolphin encounter, both kids and adults were more eager to see whales. However, as the boat continued to ride along, no signs of any sea creatures appeared in our visual field. Although the captain announced possible activity under the water, the tour arrived back at the dock disappointed. Personally, I have seen dolphins swam next to the surfers at the Crystal Cove of Newport Beach, FOR FREE. I specifically purchased the tickets to see whales, but instead I settled for dolphins.

Had a good time, boat was clean and appears well maintained, crew was friendly and knowledgable. Saw Sea Lions and at least two types of dolphins but no whales in mid-November. We will be back!
