Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

The ride was fun, a bit choppy this day, but beautiful cool weather. We thought we were not going to see anything, we were headed back to the harbor after a disappointing 1 1/2 hours, but then another boat spotted a whale and we were able to see it. Overall, boring trip if you don't see anything - great if you do. We asked the crew when is the best time of day to go and we were told it varies and there is no perfect time to spot sea life.

The weather was beautiful and our daughter's first time whale watching (3). Unfortunately we didn't see any whales however we saw a massive pod of dolphins. We spent about 40 minutes with them and have awesome pictures. The boat had a group of school children who were absolutely delighted. The staff was informative and would do the trip again.

Another boat let our captain know the siting of a whale and he was able to go full speed ahead and found the whale in question. We followed it for some time. We also saw sea lions and dolphins. In addition, the food was great along with a cocktail bar. It was a beautiful sunny California day. What more can anyone ask for!

We enjoyed the whale watching. The boat was professionally maintained and run. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is that it was too crowded. Very difficult to move around on deck.

It was a clean boat...even the restroom was clean---thank you! The captain gave information on the wildlife we saw, which was great and kept us updated on the plan of action. It's good to be informed and not just drifting and wondering. The cashier in the shop on land was very friendly and the entire process was very organized. I highly recommend this trip!

My recent trip with my son for a 1/2 day fishing aboard the Clamente out of Dana Wharf was very pleasant due to the amount of professional and friendly service from the Captain and Crew on board. My son and I will definitely be returning for more fishing.

We didn't see any whales, but we had a very enjoyable time experiencing the ocean and the overcast sky. It was beautiful. We saw dophins and sea lions and seals. My 9 yr old and 15 yr old enjoyed everything. The cook and his assistant really made the trip special. God bless them!

My wife and daughter went on this tour and honestly didn't think they would see a whale, but surprise they did. They also saw dolphins and sea lions the tour was extended because the whale was spotted on the way back in. Nice to see them not being clock watchers! The space and comfort were worth spending the extra money to go on the smaller group boat.

Wow this was a 1/2 day I will never get back. If you are thinking about deep sea fishing I would look elsewhere. This is basically bait fishing with 40+ people crammed together on a boat standing for 4 hours. It is cheap but you get what you pay for. They give you rods/reels that can handle 20 pound fish but the largest our group caught was 20 inches. I catch trout bigger than that on 4lb test! Just don't go out thinking you are going to catch big ocean fish we caught nothing but sand bass and most of them were in the 10-15 inch range not what I expected from the ocean.

Although we did not see any whales, we did see hundreds of small white dolphins. This is our third trip aboard the DANA PRIDE. It is a beautiful boat. Very comfortable with a good captain and crew. The water was as smooth as silk and the trip was great. We look forward to our next trip aboard.

We did not encounter any dolphins until c 15 minutes from the end of the trip, but when they arrived this was worth while. As we were heading back to the harbor we encoutnered a gray whale in the disctance, but didn't have the time to follow as time was up. Overall a good trip.

Hard to see the whales, but when we hit a very large pod of dolphins, it was thrilling to all 6 of us from the 1 and 3 year old, to the parents and grandparents alike.

We saw several marine mammals (including several dolphins, sea lions and a grey whale). The marine biologist onboard gave us a lot of detailed information and really added to our experience. The boat ride was comfortable and fun and we were able to get really close to dolphins, which was very exciting... especially for the little ones! This was an AWESOME trip! I would like to go every year at migration season!!!
