We saw lots of wildlife!

We went on a sunday at 10am. The ocean was calm and we saw dolphins, sea lions, and whales. The boat staff was very helpful and did all they could to get us close to the wildlife. I would recommend this trip!

Nice trip on a neat ship. We have seen lots of dolphins, but no whales (but you can't force nature I guess), 50% coupons were provided because of the absence of the whales. (can't use the coupons while we are on a short holiday but the gesture is very nice) If you want to here a downside: we were in a line for almost an hour. We were 35 mins ahead of schedule as advised, and embarkment was 15 mins behind schedule.

No whales on the first trip so we went out a second time on the company. Very informative and fun commentary.

Staff was helpful and commentary was authoritative and informative. Background material responded to questions and encouraged future inquiry. Suggest supporting video material for long periods of little or no contact with whales i.e. what to look for. Suggest as well that the ordering-printing of tickets be simplified. Something like that used for obtaining boarding passes on flights should do the trick. Not all of us have printers readily available and have to resort to hotel facilities.

Great big ocean, fab weather, plenty of dolphins, food and drink if wanted, charming crew. Sighting a whale would have been the only improvement really!

shorter than 2h, no effort to find whales

I found a coupon at UCLA that advertised this company for whale watching. I went there (90 minutes driving from Los Angeles) on march 4 2012 and it was ridiculous. I wasted money and a sunny sunday. We were supposed to leave at 2pm for a 2 hour long trip. The boat departed at about 2.15. Pretty soon we found some common dolphins, nothing special. Initially I could not understand why the boat was stopping so long in that place, but then I realized why. They don't care about finding whales, just they want to show you a dolphin so that you can not be reimbursed for the trip. So the boat stopped for long time in that area with dolphins, and then basically it went very slowly back reaching Dana point at 3.50 going very slowly. It was much less than 2hours. Absolutely no effort to find whales. There is something very bad that I noticed. Very close to Dana point there was 1 single dolphin. I suspect it's there so that when the boat does not find any dolphin during the cruise, it can always find that dolphin when it is close to dana point, and no ticket can be reimbursed. This is indeed the last bad thing that happened. Since I booked a ticket after having read some advertising about whale watching, their policy instead is that 1 single dolphin is enough not to reimburse the ticket. This is ridiculous, even more in light of the fact that there is a dolphin just close to Dana point. Summing up, don't waste your money and your time with them.

We had a great time, enjoying the fantastic weather and scenery. We saw sealions and dolphins and finally some whales. The crew went out of their way to try to ensure we saw some whales and actually over ran the sailing time to do so. Very friendly and informative staff.

We went on the tour on Jan-24-2012. The price was $18.00 per person (includes a $2.00 booking fee). My wife and I are from Montreal, Canada. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We saw whales and dolphins and the Captain of the boat went out of his way to give us the maximum time. Of course we were fortunate to see two whales and we followed them for a while. The thrill of looking out to spot these mammoth beauties was fantastic. The dolphins swam along side the boat and gave us all a real treat. I would reccomend this tour to anyone, especially folks here in Montreal. THANK YOU for a great time. Milton- Montreal

I live in a beautiful Victoria, BC which has it's own fleet of whale watching boats/etc. -- but to be out on the sunny coast of southern California in a lovely boat with a great crew was fantastic. I, my sister, niece and two cousins from the East Coast had a fabulous time as we watched two greys and tons of dolphins play and feed in the blue water during the very relaxing 2 hours on the Dana Wharf boat. The crew is well informed, friendly and reliable -- very organized and professional. If you don't take the time to go out with the Dana Wharf crew, you've missed a wonderful time!

My parents were visiting my house, and I took them to the whale watching trip. Luckily, we could see killer whales, a whale, sea lions, a blue shark, and dolphins. Especially, killer whales are really rare, so we are really lucky.
