Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

We had decided to see California from the water and had settled on a whale watch. What a great surprise to find 1/2 price Tuesday. The crew was friendly, the water was calm and the dolphins fun to watch. I am still determined to see a whale. Maybe next time?

First time trip for my husband and I during an anniversary trip to San Clemente. We loved it and will do it again next time we are in the area! No whales unfortunately but there were TONS of dolphins and it was a beautiful ride. We took advantage of their half price tues/wed deal and at 14.50/person for 2 hours of entertainment it was an amazing deal. We chose the 10am departure so the weather was perfect and the parking at the marina was a breeze. I highly recommend it!

We were not able to see whales, but we saw lots of dolphins. We also saw seals. My grandson talked and talked about it to his parents. Would highly recommend this to anyone!

From the friendly and helpful crew to the clean ship, this company provided service well above and beyond my expectations. My daughter and I had a great time and we saw a whale!!! It was a great day!

The staff was great, fun and entertaining. The boat was very nice, clean, had snacks and plenty of viewing areas. The only bummer was that we didn't see anything but a few dolphins. We apparantely tried to chase a hump-back whale which was seen on the tour before us which would have been very cool, but we didn't find it and then only saw a few dolphins at the end. Kind of a bummer for that, but over all the staff was great, and for 1/2 price Wednesday, it wasn't too much of a loss. Thanks.

We were very lucky to see three whales. One very old and almost white due to tremendous amount of barnicles on its body. A very good trip.

Although we saw no whales that day, the crew did find a very interesting feed taking place involving a large number of dolphins, seals, and various birds. The activity around this small area was amazing. Made the whole trip worthwhile.

The fishing trip was mainly for my grandaughter. The Captain and mates were very friendly and attentive to the clients. They made sure that everything was anailable at all times. The fish I caught they immediately handled them once they were in the boat and stowed them to be cleaned after the trip. However, the water temperature was out of the Captains control, and that made for tough fishing.He announced that the colder water stifles the fish appetite. He tried 6 different holes,though. He put forth a tremendous effort to try and connect. I caught two keepers, and that was the most keepers on the boat. My grandaughter caught one (undersize) but that made the whole trip worthwhile. That was her first fish caught. To her it was a 2000# billfish!! Now let me also give kudos to the staff at the tackle shop. We were running late due to an accident(not ours!) on I-5. Donna was fantastic in making sure we would be all set as soon as we got there! She helped us go quickly from the shop to the boat with only a minute to spare. Thanks again Donna. You helped us pull it off! Even though the fishing was tough, we had a great time, and I would highly recommend it to a family with children.

Even though we did not see any whales, we enjoyed very much the two hour tour. Perfect activity for older people as well as young. We got to see a bunch of dolphins and sea lions, and that help to make the day much more beautiful. The personel on board very nice and helpful. Thank you very much, we will come back for a second tour on another season hoping to catch a whale or two.

We went on a Sunday morning 10:00 whale watching gig. Since it was early, there were not many people. The guides were super friendly. We saw a few gray whales from a distance & 100s of dolphins. Fun experience, well worth the $30 each.

The staff were amazing and made the trip a winner for everyone aboard. They were knowledgeable and entertaining. I highly recommend this trip - great value for the money!

We had a great time on the trip and saw more than a whale. The boat was big, beautiful and very comfortable. We highly recommend this trip. Dana Point is a lovely community.

We had three cars on our way, and one was 3 minutes out. We called and someone said they would hold the boat. They didn't mention it to the person that makes those decisions, and when we got there and they clearly realized their mistake, the man at the counter was extremely rude to us. He even said that our party told them to leave us which was absurd. He almost spoiled it for everyone. It was the first time I have ever said anything to anyone about their service. I am cool headed, and let things be, but lying so blatantly and rudely was absurd. They seriously should let him go. They should have simply taken responsibility. We were 3 minutes late, and would have understood if they left us, except that they said they would hold the boat. Everything else was wonderful. We were glad that we ended up going, and saw some wonderful things. The $15 price was awesome, too.

Incredible experience.........we did see a whale, and many many dolphins. The kids got a HUGE thrill from it. And no seasickness!! The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The boat was clean, lots of seating on the upper area, and plenty of snacks available if needed. Great trip and would return there next time we visit!!! Thanks!!!!
