Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

I have been on several whale watching trips this was by far the best ever!

Crew members were courteous and very helpful.

Not value for money, Captain suppose to do rotation to give everybody the same time at the back of the boat where they are chumming, and where all the deckhands focus he decided to let the first group stay an extra hour due to being early! We paid the same price ticket. The captain stayed in one spot the whole 5 hours where we continuously has to struggle with kelp in the way, and 1 hour before the time was over he said it is now to late to move and just stayed put.

My 12 year old son and I had a great time on the 1/2 day trip. As we are both beginners , the crew helps us with all the tasks and shows what to do. The galley provided good food and the cabin and top deck seating was comfortable and with a good view. The other people on the boat were all friendly and we all worked as a team. Even though we did not catch any fish we had a great time. I not only would recommend this outfit, but will go out on another 1/2 day trip next time we are at Doheny State Beach and Dana Wharf.

Very nice trip. We saw a lots dolphin, singing and dancing.

My 10 yo son Grant and I have been talking about going fishing for months and we decided to give this boat a go. Although the fish weren't jumping onto the deck for us, we did manage to catch one. Grant had as much fun baiting the hook with the available calamari as fishing I think. The crew was very friendly and the others on board equally receptive to conversation. Really enjoyed meeting Isaac. Had some interesting stories to share. We will return another day for the day trip to Catalina. Thanks, Rob

The crew was fantastic on this trip!!! They were knowledgeable, very helpful and overall a delight!!! I am physically handicapped and they helped me out in so many ways, it was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the ship and out at sea! Thank you!!!

We had a great time, but the ocean weather made the fishing a bit difficult. We caught 4 fish too small to keep, and only 2 fish from the whole 20+ group made it into the jackpot. Staff was friendly though, and it just happened to be a bad day to go fishing. Saw dolphins!

Took the kids out whale watching, and everyone enjoyed it. Saw lots of common dolphins, a few sea lions, and 2 whales who were trying to stay hidden. Food and cocktails were reasonably priced.

Took my wife out whale watching as a birthday gift. Just outside harbor water was rough and boat was pitching so it turned into a white knuckle ride of terror for her. We saw no whales although the crew did try hard to find one. They were kind enough to offer us a free rain check which I thought was nice. Prior to booking I will definitely check sightings so as to not waste my time with a long boat ride! Captain said as we were departing that they had not seen any that day nor had anyone else so I knew our trip would be fruitless.

We learned how to rig a pole and bait and fish. It was really great and the crew was awsome.

its always nice to go on a whale watching tour from Dana Point as there are more sightings than Newport area.

The experience we had on our fishing day in Dana Point was awesome!!! The boat was super clean and accomidating! The crew was so great and helpful! Super nice guys! We had the best time fishing for my hubby's birthday! He loved it....guess it didn't hurt that he caught the biggest fish on the boat and won the jackpot!! Everyone from the check-in counter at Dana Wharf to the Captain on the Reel Fun was amazingly friendly and we would love a repeat of this day soon!! Cheers!!!
