Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

It was fun to go out on the boat. However, only one person caught a single (1) fish of legal size. The boat took us to five or six different places where the captain thought there might be fish to catch. . . . nothing! My brother was visiting and I thought fishing would be fun since we hadn't fished together in over 30 years. What a big disappointment.

A great way to spend an afternoon - our guide was incredibly interesting, gave us lots of information on everything we were seeing. The half-price day made it affordable, too. Well worth the sunburn :)

We had a wonderful trip with Captain Todd and his crew. Over the course of our time on the boat we saw a Gray whale, Common Dolphin, Mola Mola, Sea Lions, and numerous sea birds. In addition to seeing the wildlife, we gained great insights into the animals and the habitat in which they live. Even learned a bit about human impacts. It was a great day!

While I have gone out with Dana Wharf before, and will continue to do so, as well as recommend them, I will not go out on this time slot again. The boat was packed, with a large number of kids. If you did not want to fish while dodging small children, or patiently untangle lines, the this specific package is NOT for you. I look forward to going out on a 6am or twilight trip soon!

Not a fishing trip more like a boat ride.

The trip itself was great. The crue was fantastic. Could not ask for better. But... The girls at the check in store bad attitudes. Wanted to look at there phones instead of helping customers. It just seemed like we got in there way . One guy was in the store and he helped us out . Found out the hard way about needing a parking permit or you can get your car towed.

We borded the boat Dana Pride on time. Left harbor on time. Saw three types of dolfins. In the past with this company I did see whales. This time unfortunately we did not, so they gave us back our tickets to use another time. Wonderful.

We saw 6 whales, 3 females and 3 babies but they were so far off that we didn't really "see" them. Better than not seeing anything at all, but it was a little disappointing. Nice to be out on the boat, beautiful, sunny day and the sea was calm. Informative Captain, nice crew. Lots of Dolphins and saw a few Seals. I think I would do this again if we have out-of-town company that do not live close to an ocean.

We had family in from out of the country and they had been wanting to do this for some time. We had checked out many different companies before we settled on Dana Wharf. The reviews we read sold us on them. We had a doubter amongst our group that had already prepared himself to not seeing anything that day. As the boat exited the harbor on it's last turn passing the sea lions, a shout was heard of a sighting at 10 o'clock (meaning direction it was seen). We all turned in that direction to see a second sighting. The captain announced it was a mother and her young calf. We followed her a bit but gave her plenty of room so as not to scare or annoy them. We later came across another mother and her calf not too far away. The crew was friendly and the boat clean. We definitely will be recommending Dana Wharf Whale Watching cruises. My husband and I are already looking forward to our next cruise later this summer to see the blue whales migration.

What a great trip! I went because of my parents, and I'm glad I did. We all had a great time. The crew was awesome. The captain was very knowledgeable, and kept the trip fun and interesting. Iwill certainly recomend it to all my friends

A very fun trip. Not many caught on the boat, but the few that did got some good sea bass. Make sure to bring cash on the boat with you. There are some extra stuff that you will need to buy once on the boat. Example: If you want to keep your catch you need to rent a fish bag for a buck. If you want to enter the daily boat derby $12. If you want your fish cleaned at the end of the trip is a buck per fish. Even with the few extras, it's more than worth it! Fun day out on the water even if you don't catch anything like me.

Fishing with the crew of the Sum Fun makes it easy for the novice fisherman to have a great time and catch fish with the best of them! This was my second trip with Dana Wharf Sportsfishing, and both trips have been amazing! I can't wait for our next time as we are planning another trip soon!

The boat was well maintained and clean and appeared to be a sturdy vessel. The captain was interactive and cordial with the group on the boat. However, he couldn't find much for us to look at. So I would not call my experience a whale watching tour but more a nice 2 hour boat ride.
