Successful Whale Watch

Our group was father, mother and adult son. Departed Dana Point appx. 12:00 noon 3/21/2010. Spotted (1) Gray whale about 1/2 way . Our craft maintained a safe distance from the whale, however various other craft converged on the sighting and probably compromised the sighting. That's OK, we all like whales!

Took my 11 year old son on the 2 hour whale watching cruise. Was a great experience - saw a huge pod of dolphins and a group of whales. Even if we hadn't seen any marine mammals, the boat ride and view of the coastline was worth the money.

Great time whale watching with our grandson!

We had a wonderful trip and were fortunate enough to see 2 whales! Our captain followed them for many miles along the coastline, giving everyone the chance to view these spectacular mammals. The crew were very friendly and we couldn't have asked for a better time! Our eight year old grandson had a great time, and so did we! Thank you, and we look forward to booking another day soon!

Good morning at sea!

The crew (very friendly and knowledgeable) found a HUGE pod of common dolphin. There were hundreds (likley over a thousand) every where you looked - on all sides of the boat. I was disappointed that we did not see any whales (even with many schools of krill around). I would rather pay a little more to be out on the water a little longer so you'd have more time to find a whale or two - it's a big ocean and that's a lot of water to search to find an occassional spout to locate a whale/whale pod. Still, a beautiful morning spent on the ocean!

Fun experience for the family.

We had a good experience on our whale watching tour. The boat was clean, the crew was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Although we didn't see any whales we saw a very large pod of playful dolphins and krill, which was new for us and the kids loved it. There was food available on the boat, but they allowed food to be brought onto the boat, which was great for a very budget conscious family. Overall a great way to spend 2 hours.

We thought this was an interesting outing, well worth reduced senior rates. Left on time; returned a little late because the captain kept searching for whales. We saw them, as well as lots of nearby dolphins. Great fresh seafood on the wharf. Nice outing for visitors.

Went out on the water and not 15 minutes later were already on the tail of two California Gray Whales. The captain and the man on deck giving information were extremely helpful. We wee always on top of the whales. We managed to find seals and dolphins along the way as well. Drinks were reasonably priced too. All in all, a great experience. Well worth the time and money.

A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AND VERY REASONABLE COST
1/2 Priced Whale Watch (past event)

My wife and I were visiting as tourists from Arizona in Laguna Beach. We had driven down the coast to Dana Point Harbor where we became aware of the Tuesday Special whale watching cruise. The cost was more than reasonable at 1/2 the regular price and we signed on. The Dana Pride is a very well appointed and well maintained boat and the crew was very experienced- - -not only in maning and operating the boat, but expert in dealing with people who were their guests on the cruise. A remarkable point in that was their helpful and compassionate assistance with 5 people in wheel chairs who went on the cruise. Throughout the 2 hour cruise our very able Captain educated us with the ecology of the sea, migration habits of the whales and soon found two grey whales migrating north. The Captain pointed out that sea mammals, including the Gray whales we saw are protected by law. A number of speedboats and personal watercraft were there and operating their crafts far too close to the whales. Our Captain used the boat's loudhailer to warn the craft and tell them they were breaking federal law. We were brought to see many dolphins and California seals as well as the whales. This was a very memorable experience and we would highly recommend the experience to anyone visiting the Dana Point area. Dana Point is about 12 miles south of Laguna Beach California. THAD & Bette

Knowledgeable crew, clean and well-equipped boat, thoughtful navigation. Besides seeing whales and other marine animals, it's worth it for the boat ride!

This was a fun trip, but the service was a bit odd. There were no paper towels in the bathroom, and no one seemed interested in putting any in there. A bit yucky. We did not see any whales, but the dolphins were fun.

We had a beautiful day for the whale watching. The day before they saw 13 whales. We saw none. The crew tried extremely hard to find some, but all we saw were three or four white fin dolphins and sea lions on the buoys. It was quite disappointing, but the boat ride was nice.

Nice trip but no whales - did get a "whalecheck"

We had a great time and they tried to find the whales. They even offered a longer trip when they found out where some whales were, but there were people on board that had to be back at 5:00. They gave us all rainchecks to come back for another trip.
