The captain was great, knew a lot about the animals we saw. It was educational and perfect for my 6 year old and I. The captain made sure we had plenty of time with the dolphins, awesome experience.

Average to below average boat trip - saw a ton of dolphin - but no whales, as advertised. Nice to be on a boat, but overpriced for just a nice boat trip, with dolphin watching for about 20 minutes.

THIS IS MY THIRD TRIP WITH DANA POINT, THE FIRST WAS ON THE CLEMENTE. THE SECOND WAS ON THE SUM FUM. TODAY'S TRIP WAS ON THE REEL FUN. I WAS THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED BY THE DECK HANDS AND FISHING DURATION ON THE CLEMENTE. THE OTHER 2 BOATS LEFT MUCH TO BE DESIRED. TODAY'S TRIP ON THE REEL FUN WAS TO BE A 5 HOUR TRIP BEGINNING AT 6:30 A.M. WE PULLED AWAY FROM THE DOCK ON TIME AND PROCEEDE TO THE BAIT DOCK. WE THEN WENT BACK TO THE DOCK TO PICK UP A MAN AND AND A 3 YEAR OLD BOY (WHO HAPPENED TO CREATE SOMEWHAT OF A DISTRACTION ON THE TRIP) IT WASN'T UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 8:15 A.M. THAT WE PUT OUR POLES IN THE WATER. DURING THE TRIP, THE CREW HAD US ROTATE OUR POSITIONS AROUND THE BOAT(WHICH SEEMED TO BE POINTLESS, AS, WE WE INUNDATED WITH HANG UPS IN THE KELP). I DO LOOK FORWARD TO BOOKING TRIPS AGAIN, IF, I CAN BE PROVIDED OF A FISHING SCHEDULE FOR THE CLEMENTE. THANKS JOE C.

We enjoy our trip with catamaran whale watching. It was my daugther 23 birthday. She even cry of emotion watching the delfins jumping everywhere. My son (18) he had a lot of fun taking pictures and video of the delfins. I really recomend this family trip. It was worth it. I will do it again I love it. Thank You. Otilia Herrera

It was fun but we ended up being just outside the shore of our hotel. We were under the assumption, from speaking with others who had done this particular tour, that we would be out further in the ocean.

We took the half day on the Clemente. Great captain and crew. They were very courteous and informative. The whole process was easy and enjoyable! We all had a good time!

Although we were disappointed with the catch and it's not their fault, we couldn't be any happier with the chef who did an absolutely fantastic job. He got us all the beers we wanted, all the burritos we wanted, and he was very cheerful the whole time.

On a whim my boyfriend and i decided to go sport fishing. we live about two hours away and the drive was great , no traffic. when we arrived everyone was very helpful and congenial. the crew was cordial and knew what they were doing. captain took us to several spots, however the fishing that day was poor and most of the fish caught were undersized. Not the captains fault. I wish though that they would have had a classic rock station platying on the boat so as to make the lulls in waiting for fish to bite a little more of a party or vacation-y atmosphere. otherwise it was fun and not too expensive..$106 for two people rentals included... food was great on the boat "clemete" Marcus the galley cook/hookbaiter/ kelp master was an excellent chef and they had a complete tasty hot breakfast and hot lunch available. nice that they tallied your purchases and you could settle up at the end..all in all it was a pleasant experience and we will go again hopefully when the bigger fish are biting.

I was not given information from the main office where to wait. The day was gorgeous, unusually hot weather (high 90's - 100) and absolutely clear. The captain said it had been 6 months since they had this type of weather. There was not a cloud in the sky, you could see for 5 miles with your bare eyes and 50-60 ft deep, no wind and a unusually calm ocean. on a 2 hour trip over an hour and a half of NOTHING. I had come to see a blue whale since it is blue whale season - any whale would due since I have never seen a whale. We eventually, finally, happened upon a pod of common dolphins feeding, which is unusual behavior to spot, and played with them for a short bit and watched them feed. I know you cant guarantee anything, but I actually thought - wow, the ocean is empty! I only had 1 day to do things while traveling for work, I had hoped for a whale, any whale would have done, but a Blue... I would have cried with joy had I seen one of those. It was a very disappointing trip, I am really glad I didn't pay full price and lucked out on 1/2 priced Tuesdays. I would go again but I will not be back in California anytime soon near Blue Whale season.

I understand that whale sightings can't be guaranteed, but I knew it was going to be a slow day when they pulled up to the buoy to look at the sea lions. I get to see that on my kayak.... We did see a large group of dolphins, which was cool, but not quite what we were hoping for. My wife and kids enjoyed the trip which was the main thing. Like the website says: "Remember that sightings are guaranteed! If you don't see A GOOD SHOWING of whales or dolphin, you will get your ticket back and are invited to come out again with us! These "whale checks" never expire." Well, we did see a good showing of dolphins, but no whales...

We did not see one whale on this trip, and very little information or narration was given by the crew. Your money would be better spent buying tickets to Sea World.

It was fun, but the boat was a little too crowded. Too many lines tangling up etc. I would be willing to pay double the price for a boat with half as many anglers on board. If anyone knows of such trips please email me.

My eight year old and I took advantage of the kids fish free deal they had going on Sundays. It was a load of fun but a bit crowded. I guess a good deal is appreciated by more than just myself. The crew was very accomodating, upbeat and helpful. I couldn't have asked for more from them. We're going to be doing it again soon.
