whale "searching"

Hi was a beautiful day in Dana Point, so just the weather and being in the ocean air was great:) The crew and the boat, ship, was great, smiling faces, explanation of what was going on, clean very clean:) A little dissappointed that we didn't get to see a whale, but that's why I titled it Whale "Searching" the day was great and we were one of the boats that got to go through, literally, through dolphins, soooo many that was quite a site. Great time will do it again soon before the season ends and hope will be able to see a whale, thanks!!

New boat in great condition, very clean. Friendly, knowledgeable crew. Convenient snack bar and bathrooms onboard. Viewing area in the front of the boat is a little limited but, otherwise, very nice boat to go whale watching on.

New and Exciting but Disapointed

I went as a mandatory field trip for my Marine Mammals class, having Marine Science my major, I was so excited for this trip. I have always wanted to go whale watching and get up close and personal with the animals in their natural surroundings. I enjoyed the lecture and breakfast very much, I was touched and intrigued by the stories of the Grey whales in the lagoon in Mexico. Seeing footage of Grey whales coming right up to the boat and letting people touch them, is something I would dream doing. I found it beautiful and educational. However, I had kept in mind that this whale watching cruise of the Grey whales would not be that close and personal, but was let down immensely. The crew was very nice, and helpful, and the cataraman itself was wonderful, very spacious and clean. As we starting going, we were able to spot hundreds of dolphins in pods swimming past us. I was ecstatic! It was an amazing sight. Then encountered hundreds more, and more dolphins, but nothing else yet. As we started to close the trip, we did however spot a small shark! More dolphins, and birds, not a whale in sight. I was very disappointed especially because they had built up this idea that were so many whales being spotted and such. Then right as we were heading back, they say they know for a fact they saw a whale. Everyone jumped to the bow, and waited anxiously to spot anything that resembled a whale. Nothing. Then we headed back to the dock and it was over. I started to believe that maybe they just give us hope that we'll see whales but then say they're gone. I would still however love to go to the Blue whale watching cruises in Summer , in hopes of actually seeing a whale! But would hate to be let down again. I'm for sure going to Mexico to go touch those giant beautiful animals in person, and really interact and learn from them!

Took our three young kids (2, 5, 7) and we weren't sure if they'd like it. There aren't many places to sit so we were really wondering how it was going to play out, standing at the front of the boat the whole time. Long story short, the captain found a pod of dolphins - we're talking a thousand dolphins. Honestly, it was epic. The kids were ecstatic. The dolphins were literally swimming alongside the boat. We never saw a grey whale, but forget the grey whale...if you're lucky enough to come across the native dolphins, it is worth it. Seriously one of the top 10 best things ever experienced. The crew was courteous, funny, and knowledgeable. Good luck!

My family and I went to Dana Point just to take a day on the ocean. We had such a great time looking for dolphins and whales. The pods of dolphins were wonderful, jumping right next to the boat all around each side. There were babies to adult dolphins. The childrens smiles of delight were the best, enjoying every moment...It made the family trip priceless with many memories to share...We will return again, and tell all our friends...The Haggstrom Family.

My family was in from out of town, and wanted to go whale watching. I found this boating service and I must say it was great! The price was fantastic, and the crew was very friendly and actually stopped the boat when my mother saw a whale. We were able to see a gray whale, and dolphins. The dolphins were the highlight of the trip for the small kids we had with us, they loved that they were swimming right next to the boat.

Great Family Activity

We took our 6 year old and 9 year old out on the 8:00 boat ride having just arrived from Texas the night before (experiencing a 2 hour time differential and the morning daylight savings took effect)... obviously we did not take that into account when booking! However, despite the very early rise, we loved every second of it. We live on the coast of Texas, but have never had the opportunity to see whales. It was fantastic! The kids loved it and so did we. The boat was spacious, and the staff was great. I would strongly recommend dressing in layers and taking a high speed camera.

It was very fun, we saw a gray whale and a ton of dolphins, but we went on the 8:00 - 10:00 am tour and it was absolutely freezing, so make sure you dress warm.
