Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

It was a beautiful evening. I and my daughter and her husband went out in search of whales-hopefully blues. Saw tons of dolphins, two pods heading toward one another and meeting. Fabulous to watch them cavort together and beside the boat. They are so curious and interactive. They swim sideways so that they can eyeball the humans in the boat! Delightful. No whales that evening but....you can't orchestrate nature!

I was initially concerned about a 2-hour catamaran ride. My 7 year old son loved it! I was the one popping pepto pills. The Captain was fantastic - my son followed him around asking questions and getting snacks the entire trip. We spent a week in San Diego - we did the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Legoland, Balboa Park, and the 2 things my son asked to return for were to hang out on the beach and go on the boat again. We didn't get to see any whales, but we saw Bottlenose dolphins, Common dolphins, and Sea Lions. I will definitely be booking again with Dana's Wharf! The Captain and his crewman were enthusiastic, patient, and welcoming!

Enjoyed the day fishing, especially since it was a small group. I could imagine it getting too crowded with a full load. Only real complaint was in regards to the crew. A bunch of young kids who seemed more interested in their time joking around with eachother. Even decided they should clean the boat with everyone on board, having us move out of their way. They could use a reminder of where their paychecks come from. If I'm in the area again, I'll shop around. But not a bad outing for the price.

Tons of fun. The captain and crew were really cool to talk to. The whales were HUGE, and basically everything about the whole event was great. Perfect place to take a date or to just go with family for something new and enjoyable

I took my family on this whale watching cruise not really knowing what to expect. The crew was very nice and accommodating. The boat was clean and nice. The captain and crew knew exactly where to go to find dolphins and boy did we see dolphins. The boat went right through a school of over a thousand dolphins. They were amazing to watch and unexpectedly quiet. While we were out we spotted a Fin Whale and later followed a California Grey Whale and her baby. My kids thought it was awesome. I was amazed. I would defiantly do this again!

Took our 4 kids on the Tuesday 1/2 price sailing. What a great time! Saw an enormous pod of dolphins, sea lions, & a gray whale with her calf! The captain was very knowledgeable and was able to capture & keep my kids attention! I would recommend wearing layers of clothing, it gets chilly on the water! Also, go as early in the day as possible. Less crowded! All In all, a magical time was had by all of us!

Our experience was great!! We saw many dolphins, although we would have loved to have seen some whales. But this is something my kids and I will never forget.

I loved this activity from start to finish. Even without seeing any whales as this was off season and I was warned of that, the boat ride up the coast was so enjoyable. We did end up tracking into several PODS of dolphins. Being from Florida and an avid boater- Still that was the most dolphins I have ever seen in my life. What FUN! Crew and office folks were very knowledgable and helpful. The boat ride alone was worth the money at a very reasonable price. THANKS !

My family & I had a wonderful time, lot's of fun. Very knowable crew with a great atsmostphere. Would highly recommend this trip for everyone that likes great outdoor fun. We'll be coming back asap. Loved it!!!!!!!

WE ENJOYED THE BOAT RIDE BUT DID NOT SEE ANY WHALES, JUST DOMESTIC DOLPHINS. WEATHER COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER.

Even though we didn't see any whales, we saw a small pod of common dolphins. The crew was fabulous!

Great value...friendly and knowledgeable staff; very safe cruise; well worth the price of the tickets. Great experience. Definitely would recommend it and also would do it again.

I can't begin to express in words how much we enjoyed this excursion. The dolphins swam with the boat for quite a while, right directly next to us! We got such beautiful pictures. The water was so clear, we could watch them under water and they jumped and played as if putting on a show. It was Awesome! We saw mamas with new babies. When we got far enough offshore our Captain began searching for whales. It didn't take long. He spotted a Fin Whale and explained that they are the second largest Whale in the world. We think there were actually two but it was hard to tell cause they stay under water longer than other species of whale. All n all, it was the experience of a lifetime. If you get the opportunity to take this trip, by all means DO IT!! It was well worth it. I wish I could post my pictures for you to see. Guess you're just gonna have to go see for yourself :)
