Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

It couldn't have been more perfect; the weather was beautiful, the boat was well maintained, the captain was quite knowledgable....and...we hadn't much more than cleared the breakwater when a whale was spotted. We cautiously followed it for about an hour, taking lots of photos and getting good views without disturbing the whale. I would highly recommend this trip.

Thought it was costly since there were very few fish caught. Should have gone to a few more spots.

I'm with Laurie Anderson and helping organize the Dolphins Love Kids boat trips. I really appreciate the open minded and friendly manner you displayed on the trip. I am a retired school teacher and also appreciated the interesting background information presented on the trip. Looking forward to more adventures in the future.

We saw 6 whales, 3 females and 3 babies but they were so far off that we didn't really "see" them. Better than not seeing anything at all, but it was a little disappointing. Nice to be out on the boat, beautiful, sunny day and the sea was calm. Informative Captain, nice crew. Lots of Dolphins and saw a few Seals. I think I would do this again if we have out-of-town company that do not live close to an ocean.

The captain did a great job of trying to keep the boat from washing as much as possible on a very windy day.

Had a good day. Caught 8 rock cod. The skipper and crew of 'Reel Fun' were very helpful and social with the fishermen and children on the charter.

The captain was well spoken and explained the life cycle of the Whales and Dolphins in a manner that the young children could understand and relate to.

The crew was lot of fun and always available to help untangle lines, remove fish from hooks, and share tips. Dolphins followed the wake, gulls and pelicans were never far, sailboats were whipping nearby, a tall ship was seen at a distance and paddle boarders and surfers were closer to shore. Hayden, our 8 year old grandson caught a rockfish and we all agreed to return when the water was warmer.

We had a great time we saw a lot of dolphins and some whales, the captain was great, he would tell us where to look for the whales and he made sure both sides of the boat could get a good look at the whales

While the weather was overcast and windy, it was still worth standing on the bow of the boat to watch the common dolphin playing along side the boat and the whale breach near by. The captain did an excellent job of circling so the 40-50 dolphins could play in front, beside, under and behind the boat for 10-15 mintes. Many opportunities for photos and videos. At the same time, his informational talk was interesting without being imposing. He waited over 30 minutes for us to see the whale breach 3 or 4 times before we had to speed back in order to not delay the next group. The captain's knowledge of marine life and the area was impressive and entertaining. A great value and highly recommended for families with kids of all ages.

Whales are right off shore so no long trek out to sea. Boat commodious. Bloody Mary's available for those with children (and food for kids as well). Very persistent crew in finding and tracking whales. Good commentary

Like being on a cruise. We got a little more time since it was the last trip of the day. Started out foggy but cleared up at 3:00. Saw a gray whale which the captain was able to follow for a while. Saw the whale breached several times. After that we followed a school of dolphins. They came alongside the boat. On the way back, the captain stopped at a buoy where seals were resting. He explained why they were resting. They hunt at night and rest during the day. Enjoyed the trip with my daughter. Will do again next year.
