A beautiful day of blue whales close by and dophins swimming under and around the boat. Friendly and helpful crew. The large catamarian much more fun than a big boat.

Informative, enjoyable adventure

The boat left on time. The weather was fine until the fog set in. The captain was enthusiastic, well informed and made the cruise quite enjoyable. It was fun to see a hugh pod of dolpins. The whale was too far south to get to. July isn't the best time of the year for whale watching. I highly recommend taking a sweatshirt, windbreaker or warm sweater to protect you should the weather get cold, which it did on our trip.

OUR DANA WHARF CAPTAIN'S EXCEPTIONAL EXPERIENCE MADE OUR TRIP INCREDIBLE! I DEFINITELY WILL RECOMMEND YOUR COMPANY TO FRIENDS. I REALLY APPRECIATED ALL THE INFORMATION SHARED WITH US ABOUT BLUE WHALES, THEIR BEHAVIOR AND THEIR RECENT FOOD SEARCH PATTERNS. (AND, OUR TEENAGERS WERE DELIGHTED TO LEARN THAT THEY ARE AMONG THE 1% OF THE WORLD'S POPULATION TO VIEW A BLUE WHALE.) THANKS FOR THE GREAT TRIP! JACKIE GEITH

The boat, The Dana Pride, was clean and safe and our skipper was educated and very knowledgeable about the mammals we hoped to see, from whales to different dolphins etc. He did not dumb-down his narration and I liked that. As it happened the fog rolled in and we didn't see any whales so we got a whale-rain-check - much appreciated. Boat crew were friendly and very agreeable. We shall be back soon. Thanks.

Staff was helpful and commentary was authoritative and informative. Background material responded to questions and encouraged future inquiry. Suggest supporting video material for long periods of little or no contact with whales i.e. what to look for. Suggest as well that the ordering-printing of tickets be simplified. Something like that used for obtaining boarding passes on flights should do the trick. Not all of us have printers readily available and have to resort to hotel facilities.

great ride with lots of dolphins

Interesting and fun facts about the dolphins. We didn't see whales so they gave us a "whale check" for another trip anytime. Can't wait till we can go again.

An enjoyable day

We enjoyed our trip very much. The skipper was quite informive, discribing the differant sea life that we encountered along the way, and also, some that normally are in our coatal waters but did not appear. Unfortunately, the Whales were among those that did not appear. We will use Dana Point' Wharf's Whale Watching Tour again; maybe we will have better luck next time.

Lots of dolphins, no whales.
Fri, Mar 9, 12   12:00 PM ThomasBohan Male 70+ Local Family Without Children
Saw several hundred dolphins which was fascinating. Did not see any whales, so the crew issued "whale checks" (good for future trip) which is great for us locals. Captain was informative. Long boarding line formed early with no place to sit, and the boat was quite full, thus many of us had to stand throughout the whole experience which was not good for this senior with back problems. Women's restroom was foul smelling and the toilet was clogged; unacceptable!

This was a cold/dreary day w/limited sunshine and we stayed outside the entire time. Take gloves and scarf and dress warm and enjoy every minute. We did see whales and have pictures. Dolphins are the most fun! We love the water and this was a fun experience!

Disappointed that we didn't see any whales
Sat, Mar 3, 12   8:00 AM lindakallen Female 70+ Local Couple on a Date
We went whale watching on a beautiful Sat. morning at 8:00. It was nippy, but clear as a bell. The man that narrarated the trip on the loud speaker was quite informative. We saw several pods of dophins going through the water which was fun to see. However, the closest we came to seeing a whale was a few bubbles on the surface of the water. I guess a whale was swimming in the area, but too lazy to surface, so we could see him. Since we got a discounted price on the trip, we definitely felt it was worth the money.

Had a great time, crew is very accommodating and knowledgeable. Would have been a great experience even if we had not seen any marine life (but we did) and the crew was very informative as to what we were seeing ,why and also a little marine biology lesson thrown in. I do not hesitate to recommend this trip to any and all. Enjoy!
