Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

The weather was good and the accomodations were good also. The staff was helpful in setting up the proper gear and bait. Although the catch of fish was minimal, there was a grey whale pup that was seen, dolphins, and an awnry sea lion (I expect he was catching fish), All in all a good trip and reasonably priced. I expect to go on another sea fishing adventure this summer when the fish are a little more plentiful.

My son and his friend went out fishing and enjoyed themselves. Caught alot of fish early, then nothing the last couple hours, but that's fishing (otherwise they'd call it catching!) I've been out many times with these folks and they're always friendly and helpful. A fun time!

Captain of boat was great and if there was any whales to see it would have been even better.

WE HAD A GOOD TIME. WISH WE CAUGHT MORE FISH. THE DECKHANDS WERE A GREAT HELP. THE ONLY NEGATIVE THING I CAN SAY IS THE TRIP ENDED EARLY. WE LEFT THE DOCK AT 12;45 PM AND BACK AT THE DOCK AT 5;00 PM. I THOUGHT THE TRIP WAS FROM 12;30 TO 5;45 PM. OTHERWISE IT WAS A FUN EXPERIENCE FOR MY SON. WE WILL PROBABLY GO AGAIN.

Great Crew & Captain

My 12 year old son and I went out at 11:00 a.m. on 9/5/09. We would have enjoyed our excursion even if we had not seen a single whale. The crew was friendly and did a great job explaining the marine life that is found in that area. The boat was perfect with plenty of room to move around. The sandwiches that we purchased from the galley were outstanding. To top it off, not only did we see 2 huge blue whales up close but the crew put us in the middle of a pod of 800 to 1000 dolphin. I want to thank everyone at the Dana Wharf for an experience of a lifetime.

Captain stopped at location with seals swimming under the boat. He had us fish there for an hour and ten minutes before it dawned on him that no fish would bite with seals in the area.

Everything was great. boat was on time and the fishing was fun. The guys that operate the boat were really helpful. It was a fun day!

The boat ride was nice with many dolphin (1000's, literally), sea lions and 3 grey whales.

It was a great experience. The captain really wanted us to see something cool and didn't mind being a little late back to the dock so we could see the second largest whale.

We tracked one whale for most of the trip, seeing him spout and fluke several times. The boat's crew was very helpful throughout - guiding us where to look and explaining what we were going to see and did see. The team was very professional and made the trip enjoyable and educational. I would recommend this to friends and visitors.

This is a 2 hour boat tour in the beautiful Dana Point harbor and the opportunity to see many schools of dolphins swimming and playing in the ocean as well as seeing a whale. Our tour was guided by a very knowledgeable and passionate individual who truly enjoyed speaking and educating us about aquatic living, eating habits of the animals, migration of the whales and the every day life of the dolphins, whales, sea lions and other animals seen during our venture. His passion and excitement for leading these tours made it very educational and enjoyable for everyone on the venture. Great job and highly recommended to everyone considering this awesome adventure and we will definitely do it again next time in the area!

We had a great time! We didn't even have to go far off shore before we spotted the first whale. The dolphins were the most exciting part of the trip. I plan to go again when the blue whales are here!

The only down side was that we did not find any whales on our excursion (the cruise just before ours had found one). However, it was more than made up for by the "jackpot" of dolphins we found. There were literally hundreds in a massive pod. They put on quite a show for us. Weather was beautiful and cruise employees were excellent.

This was a cold/dreary day w/limited sunshine and we stayed outside the entire time. Take gloves and scarf and dress warm and enjoy every minute. We did see whales and have pictures. Dolphins are the most fun! We love the water and this was a fun experience!
