Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

My husband and I were celebrating our 3rd year wedding anniversary when we decided to go whale watching. We seen so many dolphins and sea lions along with a grey whale, it was wonderful!

We went on this adventure on January 9, 2010, to celebrate my sister's birthday, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. I suffer from motion sickness on almost all moving vehicles, but decided to go anyway because I wanted to spend the time with my family. I'm so glad I did, because I didn't even have a twinge of motion sickness. Although we didn't see any whales, we saw hundreds of dolphins and lots of sea lions, pelicans and seagulls. The crew was amazing and saw to our every need, including recommending a fabulous local restaurant for fresh seafood. Even if we hadn't seen any dolphins, it would have been worth the money just to be out on the ocean on a luxury yacht for a few hours. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

We had a beautiful warm and sunny day to sail. Even though we did not see any whales we did see dolphins and sea lions. Staff was pleasant & knowledgable. Comfortable boat. One woman had a 3 year old and I wouldn't recommend for that young age group - she spent the time running around the boat after him! He didn't have the patience to keep looking out for the whales!

I have done this trip several times now. I live locally and I always am awestruck to be out on the boat so quickly and in such heavenly waters so close to home! On this particular trip we saw Dall dolphins which the Captain and several others on the ship said were VERY unusual. They looked like small killer whales and moved through the water with tremendous speed and power. Very Very fun! A birthday gift to a friend. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!

Very comfortable and relaxing boat! Incredibly courteous and knowledgeable staff! We can't wait to go again and this time bring our children! The trip would have been great without a sighting but to see the interaction of the whale with the dolphins was a gift from nature!!!

Even thought we didnt' see any whales, we did see 3 types of dolphins and sea lions --- we will hopefully go again in March for a better chance to see the whales.

I was a little hesitant to buy tickets online because I'd never used the site before, but we had no problems. The tickets were emailed to us and we had no problems finding the dock or the boat, and no problems with the tickets. We didn't see any whales, but saw tons of dolphins and it was a great time. We would definitely do the trip again on a half price day.

Did not see any whales, however, saw a school of rare riso dolphins. Beautiful day to be on the water.

It was a beautiful day, tons of dolphins, cute seal lions, bummer on the no whale part but my daughter enjoyed this activity for her 20th Birthday

It was a perfect day in early January. Didn't see any whales even though the crew sure tried to find some. Saw seals and tons of dolphins though. Will do it again.

Our family day out included my husband and I and our two boys ages 5 and 9 there was also my brother and sister-inlaw and their three kids ages 4,6 and 8. My husband's mum and dad were with us to who were visiting from Scotland, UK. My husband and I have always wanted to do Whale watching as it is my husband's favourite mammal. Although when we went out we never saw any whales but we saw pods and pods of dolphins who swam right by our boat, we quickly got the video camera out and took lots of photo's and video's. It was a beautiful sunny day, the sea water was calm it was a perfect afternoon with the family the kids were in their element and had a great time. Sharon Walton

Unfortunately we did not see any whales, but my friend and I still had fun. We did get to see two large pods of dolphins, one of Risso's the other of bottlenose. They surrounded us and a few were breaching, splashing each other, and splashing with their tails. It was really cool to watch. Perhaps the largest number of dolphins I've seen in one place in the wild. I would recommend the activity, but would have found it more enjoyable if we actually got to see whales.

Really enjoyed the dolphin watching - amazing! We wish we could have seen a whale, but will come back to try again in the future.

The deep sea fishing was fun. People were constantly catching fish and, unfortunately, birds. I think a half day trip is the perfect amount of time. A full day seems like it might get boring. The crew were really helpful with whatever was needed. They did their best to make the day enjoyable for all of the people on board.
