Lovely Day for being out on the water.
Sun, Mar 15  12:45 PM rosh2009 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
The weather warmed up from previous days, so it turned out to be a lovely afternoon in hopes for a great or somewhat successful fishing trip. Met a lot a friendly people, but that was about it. They don't tell you really about the success rate of catching fish until about 1/2 through when you have not really even gotten a bite that the water is still to cold for fish to be caught. They should just let you know upfront that many excursions are coming up empty handed to say the least. This was on a Sunday. My other family members went out on their 1/2 price special two days later and it was worse, they didn't even have any bites. Your just paying for a boat ride. Might as well go whale watching for the same price, that way you know you are only going for a "scenic" ride. Most people on the boat caught nothing only 1 or at the most 3 people caught 1 fish each.

Amazing to see magnificent grey whales live!

The captain of our Whale Watching trip has been doing this since 1989. He is extremely knowledgeable and I felt he still was in awe after seeing these magnificent creatures so many times. He know where to go and how to approach the whales. The crowd was wonderful and they don't overcrowd the boat. I thoroughly enjoyed the views of Dana Point and San Clemente as well. I came away with new wonder and appreciation for God's amazing creatures. Worth it!

It was a great day. The crew was friendly and enthusiastic. The boat was clean. We saw a whale and followed it for about 35 minutes. Then took off and found a school of dolphins about 500-600 strong. The crew was very professional. My sister was in from Pennsylvania and enjoyed the cruise thoroughly.

There were lots of dolphins but no whales to be seen; we spent about an hour with the dolphins which lost the allure after about 15 minutes.

Don't forget to take binoculars as it is hard to get close to the whales they keep swimming underwater while feeding so you don't know where they will pop up next. Also you have to be quick with your camera and have a good zoom feature or else pictures won't turn out very good. Don't go below unless you only want to see other peoples rear ends.

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!

My son and I visited some family and friends in California. We had a very full schedule with very few off days. We had planned on going to an old gold mine, but it was out of season, so I got on the internet and found this whale watching cruise. What a great idea that was! The staff on the cruise was so polite and friendly! We didn't find any whales that day, but we did see some spectacular dolphins! They were so close to the boat, that when they splashed along the side, some ocean water hit us both! (not much, just a splash) We really enjoyed the 2 hours out on the ocean. . . Next time we get out towards California, we will DEFINATELY go again!

I had a really good time. We didn't see any whales but it was past the time of migration so to be expected. We saw sea lions up close, and tons of common dolphins, some bottle nose dolphins, and a lot of birds diving into the water. It was more than I expected, the dolphins were swimming so close to the boat and jumping out of the water. It was a lot of fun and worth the price (a lot cheaper than other places in the area).

I took my elderly Aunt on the two hour whate watching trip and had a great time. I went aboard thinking I would probably see one dolphin being it was at the end of whale season, but immediately we spotted some seals. An hour into our journey we got notice there was a pod of dolphins up ahead and we headed right towards them. Soon we spotted the dolphins and the sight was amazing because this was a whole heard of dolphins and we were right in the middle of them. The dolphins were all around us as far as the eye could see in every direction. Though we never saw a whale the trip was worth every penny and I would highly reccommend the adventure. The captian and staff on the vessel were very informative telling us all about these dolphins. It was clear they were just as amazed as the passengers saying they have never encountered so many dolphins in all the years they have been doin this trip. It was estimated there were at least 7 thousand dolphins. I took video and am going to put it on youtube. search Dana Point Dolphins on youtube and you can view the footage.
