Boring for a local, only slightly less for a touri

| Great boat, clean and well appointed. A great, friendly and helpful crew. Cruising the harbor was a complete bore, however. How many docked boats, and rocks with bird poop does anyone really want to experience? For the price I'd rather have a drink and a burger @ Turk's and take a walk around the harbor. | ||||||

No Whales but Lots of Dolphins

| This is the second time I've been out with my son and family when in CA - the first time we were lucky enough to be one of the first boats to see a blue whale for the season. This time we didn't have any whales, but two types of dolphins who entertained us wonderfully. The crew is great about describing the dolphins and their habits. It was cool - if the weather says overcast, remember to dress in layers. There were some people there in summer nothings that froze! We were late leaving because of some late comers, but the crew made sure we were out for our full 2 hours. | ||||||

| The trip was expensive for what you got. The rod rental was extra. And the up-grade was outrageous. 1 Day license, rod, trip, fish bag, plus fish fillet, totaled $70.00. | ||||||

| We took off on time but were out there nearly 2 hours before we finally saw 1 small humpback whale. It was exciting to see it but it was not what I expected. I rated the activity as Neutral because I don't know enough about whales to have expected something better at this time of the year. Maybe earlier in the year the whales are out more but one whale at the very end of the trip was a bit disappointing. The crew of 2 were not the friendliest either. We asked one (pink mohawk) if it was time and he kind of snapped at us. We're from Las Vegas. Whales are not something we see everyday. They need to take into consideration that although they see these beautiful animals everyday, there are people who have never seen one "Up Close and Personal" as your ad says. Our original plan was to go to Santa Barbara but with the fires we thought it best not to go into that area. I probably would not recommend this trip to my friends. Also when we came into the office to pickup our tickets we weren't greeted in a friendly manner. We felt as if we were more of a bother than customers. | ||||||

| This was a great two hour cruise with a great crew. The crew worked very hard at finding marine mammals to view. We found a large group of dolphins that were a great joy to view. | ||||||

| Upon arriving at Dana Point Wharf to check in, we were advised that the sea was rough and they recommended taking something for sea sickness. We were escorted onto the boat on a beautiful spring day. The trip out to sea was rocky, but soon we were invited to purchase drinks or food items. Our first siting were seals and we were given detailed information regarding their habits. We also spotted dolphins and information was also provided. Unfortunately, we did not observe whales but plan to do the trip again,. Before placing our reservations, I asked the representative if this was good time or should we wait for blue whale season and was advised to go ahead now. I know there is no guarantee for spotting whales, but hopefully next visit we can obtain a recommendation on a best bet for a time to see a whale. Truly enjoyed the day and look forward to next trip. | ||||||

| we had a great time. we didn't see any whales, but we saw an amazing school of dolphins jumping...hundreds all around us. even if we hadn't seen the dolphins i would still have given a positive response. the crew was friendly..the food was good...better than i would expect on a short boat trip. i will highly recommend you guys to friends and family. thanks, john mcgovern | ||||||

| I've lived in California all my life until 1993 then moved to Oklahoma. Took some friends and 2 teenage kids and all of us enjoyed this very much. We saw female Humpback whale with Calf. Plus we saw Sea Lions. Was a great adventure and next time we return to California, we will sure go again. Also have told friends and relatives about your tours. Thank you for the wonderful time. | The crew was great. My grandchildren so enjoyed the Dolphins and Sea Lions. Just sorry we missed the whales that day. Will try again on another Trip. We never see Whales in Florida. | ||||||

| The Dana Wharf folks are pros. The whole activity went like clockwork and the staff did their best to give us our money's worth. Although we didn't see any whales (the trip was late in the season), we saw more dolphins than I thought possible - a pod of common dolphins that numbered in the thousands. Dolphins everywhere - as far as you could see -quite a spectacle. | ||||||

| The staff was great. The boat was great. Enjoyed chasing the dolphins around and around. Enjoyed hearing about dolphins. Staff estremely helped. Loved the grilled cheese sandwich. Have done it several times and don't care if we see the whales or not - the dolphins are a fun to watch. It is relaxing sitting inside if you do not want to stay outside. | ||||||

| From leaving the dock, to returning our needs were met. The crew was right there for advice, helping to untangle lines and take fish off the hooks. The Capton did all he could by taking us from spot to spot to find fish that would cooperate and bite. The Galley was good, and the food also good. I will be back out when the time allows it for me. I will recommend the trip to anyone wanting a great fishing experience. A great day for the kids also. | ||||||

| The weather was good and the accomodations were good also. The staff was helpful in setting up the proper gear and bait. Although the catch of fish was minimal, there was a grey whale pup that was seen, dolphins, and an awnry sea lion (I expect he was catching fish), All in all a good trip and reasonably priced. I expect to go on another sea fishing adventure this summer when the fish are a little more plentiful. | ||||||
