Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to spend quality time with my older brother. This 1/2 day Dana Wharf experience was perfect and Zerve made it very convenient and seamless, just pick, click, print & go! My brother (as always) kept bragging how he was going to win the jackpot and how he never gets skunked, well a small child with some assistance from the very capable, ever-present deck-hands, landed the jackpot winning halibut. My big brother had to wait until the final hour of our adventure to keep his skunkless streak alive, finally bagging a keeper. My brother and I have decided to make this a monthly event. Those of you reading this, put down the remote, take the game controller away from your children, log onto Dana wharf fishing, find the time and length of day that suits you, book it through Zerve and enjoy each other in a natural setting, I did!!!

The money was well worth it and the 2 for 1 Tuesday was great. I had a great time with my grandson and he really enjoyed himself. The staff was very helpful and even though the boat was crowded there was always someone around to assist.

Our family had a totally fun experience! Although the boat was a little crowded (we went on a half-price Tuesday), the crew was attentive to everyone and did a great job of helping out! Boat was clean, atmosphere was nice ... I think my eight-year old granddaughter is a fisherman at heart ... We'll do this again~ So much fun!!!

I brought my 13 year old son with me and we really had a great time, the crew was very helpful and always ready to lend a hand if lines got tangled and always there when a fish was landed to put it in the proper gunny sack. They even quickly re-rigged my son's line when it needed to be cut due to major tangles. I would highly reccomend Dana Wharf for day fishing.

Seeing two mature blue whales up fairly close and tracking them for an hour was a great experience. Seeing a school of nursing dolphins on the way out was a bonus. Paying $20 extra per person for the 1pm cruise gets you a trip on their brand new catamaran which is fast, quiet and clean with no diesel or exhaust fumes. The crew was polite, friendly and knowledgeable. If you have a little luck with the whales as we did, it's hard to see how you could not enjoy this trip.

The 1/2 day fishing trip is in my opinion is the best way to spend an afternoon. Myself and my group of friends plan on making it a once a week thing if possible. The crew is awesome and the burgers are even better. I will recommend this to all my friends.

The deck hands were not attentative to all fishermen. Stayed primarily at rear of the boat and were not available to assist all passengers,

The trip was wonderful. I fully enjoyed myself as did my husband. We saw a few pods of dolphins on our trip and got some amazing shots. The trip wasn't too long nor too short. If you enjoy being on the water, you'll enjoy this trip. We went with our niece and nephew and they didn't seem to enjoy the trip as much. It's not really interactive and if you don't bring something to keep small children occupied, they may be bored within the first half hour. The only thing I feel I should caution about is that there is VERY limited seating. If you don't feel like you can stand for 2 hours or sit on the floor when you need a break, I wouldn't recommend it as the seats go quickly.

The boat was extremely clean and fast! It was a blast. The only downsides were that the cabin smelled of sewage and the man at the snack bar wasn't super friendly. Overall, it was a great experience. We saw many dolphins and even a few blue whales!

I have been on this trip many times before but in the past 3 or 4 years the fishing has seemed to come to halt. The staff always has excuses for the poor catch conditions. Our boat left about 15 minutes late because they were waiting for more people to show up, not fair to those of us who got there on time. I also did'nt pay to sit in the harbor. The boat crew was very helpful and enthusiastic. Although the office/check in staff are very rude and do a poor job of welcoming your business. My recent trip on July 4 2008 will be my last one, after about 15 years of visitng at least once or twice a year.

6:30 half day trip-Full boat, decent crew and good intentions. Just no luck. 3-4 keepers for entire boat of about 30 anglers. I caught a small white bass but had to throw it back. Crew threw out lures and hooked a bunch of barracuda near the kelp beds to keep it interesting but just no luck. I will definitely give it another chance.

Short and sweet , we left the dock on time wheather was good , the deck hands were very polight , and the the capton made sure everyone on the boat had chance to catch something.

We celebrated our daughter's 42nd birthday with a Whale Watching trip out of Dana Point. She had always wanted to go, but there are at least three of us who have motion sickness. We took Dramamine - less drowsy type - and made it through even though the water was really choppy with a lot of whitecaps. We were just about to turn around and head back into the harbor when the crew spotted a blue baleen whale. So, we followed it around for about 45 minutes as it came up to breathe, and went down again, about every six minutes. Wish we could have seen a lot more of the whales, but had a really fun time with the one. Very interesting and my daughter LOVED IT! Thanks for the great trip.
