Whale Watching in Gray Whale Season (Dec - Apr)

Evenn though I have led many children on nature trips as a teacher inthe last 30 years, I learned a lot about the animals we saw and about how to communicate knowledge. The captain expressed his knowledge in a fun way. wanoderful.

Big bang for your buck
1/2 Priced Whale Watch (Gray Whale Season Dec-Apr)

We go whale watching several times a year and always out of Dana Point. The tours are enjoyable and educational as the crew is very knowledgeable about the local marine life. Every possible effort is made to view a whale but of course, that is not always going to happen so the captain is always on the lookout for dolphins, sea lions, etc. No matter what you see, a day spent on the water is a good day.

Surfing porpoises were beautiful
Tue, Nov 6, 12   11:00 AM bkgoza Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
On a beautiful, calm day, the catamaran was very stable (important to me who gets seasick), and very quickly found a fin whale which we watched for quite some time. Then on to a very large pod of porpoises -- perhaps 2000 altogether -- who seemed to enjoy swimming beside us and surfing in the boat's wake. In between, we watched sooty shearwaters who were so full of krill that they couldn't even make it off the water. The naturalist on the boat was very informative, and the trip overall was a great treat.

The counter staff was very helpful. I requested that my wife couldn't stand very long and they made the effort to see that we could board first. The tour was great. i would recomend it for all.

Great local excursion with out-of-state friends

We had friends visiting us in San Clemente from the mid-west and we thought that a good outing with them would be a whale watch cruise. We enjoyed the cruise just as much as our friends did. The captain and crew were friendly but professional. They wanted us to have a good time and see some sea life. The weather was gorgeous, the sea was glassy and we saw several different groups of dolphins and a whale! The time passed quickly and before we knew it the 2 hours were over. We will be returning.

Great little Getaway

What a great way to get on the water, enjoy the SoCal sun, and experience nature! The staff are friendly and helpful. The boat is just big enough and not crowded. From the time you leave the dock it is a wonderful and relaxing experience. You never lose sight of land even though you go out about a mile. The contrast of open sea ahead and mountains to the rear makes you realize how amazing California is. As your eyes scan the horizon for the tell-tale "puff" of a whale you note the deep greens and blue of the water. Suddenly there dolphins breaching just ahead! Take some videos with your phone so you can re-live the motion as well as the action. 2 hours is just enough..and if you don't find whales the company gives half off coupons for the next trip you take, and once you've gone out there will definitely be a next trip! Grab some food at Turk's either before or after your trip. Great bar with food place, lots of atmosphere that will remind you of days past, and delicious food!

Using Zerve eliminates the need to stand in line to procure tickets. I don't have to worry about not being able to get tickets because I'm quaranteed a spot on the boat as soon as I book.

Whale watching trip was great!

The captain went out of the standard 7 mile zone to show us the only Blue whale in the area and it was worth it! I have been on whale watching boats on the east coast and Hawaii and this trip was by far the best. I also enjoyed the dolphins cavorting around the boat. I have recommended this trip to others and plan to go another trip when the whales are "in town".

Very informative

The captain was very knowledgeable and passed on to us a lot of information about the sealife. It was a smooth ride and was fun when he speeded up to get further out to sea. (8 miles) Weather was beautiful. We only saw dolphins and some sun fish but enjoyed it anyway. It was good customer service to give us 1/2 price passes for the next time we want to go. I greatly recommend this outing.

Enjoyed seeing the dolphins and whales. Only complaint I have is that in the brochure it says sr price $40 and when I called and asked for a sr discount I was told that you have none and I pd $45 each. I feel I am intitled to a $10 refund. thanks Linda

Although the fishing was slow, the crew was very good. They helped us try different combinations to improve our chances. Twilight in the ocean was beautiful, and so was the sunset.

Enjoyable afternoon on the water
Fri, Sep 7, 12   12:00 PM catlover01 Female 60-69 Local Couple on a Date
Southern California summertime, on the ocean, beautfiul day, who could ask for more? Even though we didn't see any whales (spent quite a while trailing a pod of dolphins and we did get a "whale check" for another trip, it was a great excursion. The glass of wine at Wind and Sea capped off an enjoyable afternoon

Just okay

The captain only knew the basics about the whales we were out to find. When we got to a location, he said there were 3 whales in the area but we only followed one that could be identified -- Lefty. It would have been nice to have a naturalist or someone more in the know there to answer questions.
