Very Good For Families

Took my 12 and 11 year old sons. We had never fished before. Crew was very helpful. Front office staff was as well. We knew NOTHING so when we started out I slipped one of the crew $20 and he helped us run the line, tie the hooks use the reels etc etc. The extra tipo was appreciated but not requireed---he gave us the stra help before he knew I was tipping. Not a ton of fish caught----44 people caught maybe 30 fish of which maybe 5 were keepers but it was still fun. I would recommend highly.

Whale and dolphins and sea lions, oh my!
Sun, Jan 19  2:30 PM Zrieck Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
The captain warned us prior to heading out that there was no predicting what we would see, and I think anybody should come with the expectation of no guarantees for this kind of outing. That said, we saw a grey whale, a group of sea lions sunbathing on a bouy, a pod of bottlenosed dolphins taking a nap, and a large pod of common dolphins that frolicked with us for several minutes. The crew was very informative and eager to dispense anecdotes and interesting facts about the creatures being observed. There was plenty of comfortable seating and a well-stocked snack bar. As a side note, remember to bring a jacket as the wind can get quite chilly out on the water.

We saw a California Gray Whale from up close. Wow!! The highlight was the hundreds of common dolphins swimming and jumping around the boat. This trip is a must do while in Southern California!

What an awesome trip!

I would highly recommend booking this trip if you're interesting in seeing whales and dolphins really up-close within a couple of miles off our coast. We were very lucky to see some gray whales on their migration south to Mexico. We followed one for about 30 to 40 minutes, keeping a respectful distance, watching as she spouted. We saw several tail flips and she even breached four or five times and splashed back down. The whole deck erupted in applause! Don't forget your camera and binoculars! The captain and crew were very informative and shared lots of information on these magnificent animals. He was also communicating with other boats to find out where the best viewing areas were. As the trip was drawing to a close, the captain spotted a pod of dolphins cruising and soaring out of the water. There were hundreds! He cruised right into the middle of the pod, explaining that they knew exactly where we were and that they were not in any danger. You could almost reach out and touch them as they jumped and played just out of reach. We were on the catamaran which was very roomy with plenty of space on deck for everyone. Also, I must say the boat was spotless. There is lots of seating both on the front and rear deck and if you get a little chilly, the snack bar are is fully enclosed with clear plastic all around for a full view. As this was out first trip, we took many pictures and brought home lots of memories. We'll definitely be back! Thanks to the front office, captain and crew for a fantastic day!

We had a wonderful time. The boat was great, clean and well kept. Staff and crew were very friendly. Very helpful and informative. Obviously, the most amazing part of the trip was the sea life. We actually saw a grey whale breech the water several times.... Ah-mazing!! The captain said it was the first whale breach he had seen all season. I had my cannon camera with telephoto lens and I captured incredible pictures. After spending plenty of time with the whale, the captain took us over to an area to sp

We very much enjoyed the trip and the commentary

We take this trip about once a year, and always thoroughly enjoy it, whether or not we see whales. This time we did. The only essential ingredient is good weather. The trip on the sparkling water, with the beautiful coastline and sun overhead, is well worth the price (and half price is even better).

Great knowledge of whale's behaviour
Sun, Jan 12  12:00 PM jmok007 Male Unspecified Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
More than 5 whale sightings and 3 tail showings in a 2 hour trip. ended with dolphins dancing around our boat and sighting of a sunfish. Very good trip with kudos to the knowledge of the captain in predicting whale behaviors. However, not recommended for kids under 4 as they are unlikely to experience anything.

Great Day on the Dana Pride

It was a perfectly beautiful sunny January day! We made new friends, enjoyed the crew, and enjoyed watching a gray whale! It was our daughter's first experience out on a boat. It was the perfect way to introduce her, and dismiss any fears she had. Thank you!

Not the fault of anyone but disappointing lack of whales seen. Dolphins and seals, but as So Cal locals that was not unique. Convenient enough.

Very nice facility, easy check in and a nice boat. Crew was great and the captain was very personable and informative while we were out. The coast is beautiful and well worth the trip just by itself. Seeing wildlife was great. We saw a whale and some very acrobatic dolphins. I learned a lot on the trip and would highly recommend.

My nine year old son and I had a really fun time. We were first timers so we didn't know what to expect. The crew was super friendly and helped us set up our poles and equipment. We even saw a whale on our way out to fish. I highly recommend this activity.

We had the best time. We are a large family with kids 2 1/2 to 16. They all had a fantastic time. Sea conditions definitely made the trip. Flat seas, cool but sunny day, an d tons of mammals- we saw grey whales, fizzle dolphins, and tons of dolphins and sealions. The skipper was very knowledgeable and fun. I highly recommend this trip.

NIce way to end the year with a bang!!

I was visiting Los Angeles and decided that it would be nice to take a whale watching excursion with my family since we have never done that before. I selected Dana Wharf Sport-fishing and Whale Watching because they were the most economical and by coincidence they had a 1/2 price tuesday promo. Their location was easy to find and the booking was flawless. We boarded on time and the boat looked well maintained. I had low expectations -regarding actually seeing a whale- since no sights had been reported recently. However, during the tour we first saw a school of sea lions swimming playfully around our boat. That was great fun, they are amazing swimmers. Several minutes later we got lucky and a grey whale appeared in the horizon. Our captain sped the boat to catch up with her. She was swimming very casually and did not seemed to be bothered by us. It was an amazing sight of an unbelievable animal. She was huge!. We stayed with her for several minutes until she finally dived out of sight. After that the boat turned around and started the trip back to the pier. But the fun was not finished yet: suddenly a huge group of dolphins appear behind us and started to play on the waves created by our boat. That was a great show that those dolphins put up. We enjoyed greatly. After all that we finally reached the pier to disembark. Overall it was a great experience that I would recommend to all. Just a word of caution: It does get very cold out there. Have some extra coats available.
