Enjoyable

It was a perfect day weather wise and we took the first trip out in the morning so the sea was calm. Although we had been looking forward to seeing the whales and did not, we were fortunate to see a very large pod of Common Dolphin which made the trip worth while. I would recommend the experience.

A Very Nice Excursion

Although the ride was a bit chilly (you may want to add on an extra layer to those you plan on wearing), the crew was very friendly and the scenery was great. We saw a number of gray whales and the boat's pilot did a nice job putting us in a reasonable position to view them. We had a great time.

Actual fishing

This experience of fishing has created excitement in my kids to go for fishing. My 9 yr old daughter caught 10 and my son 6 yrs old caught 5 - half the time he was crying :-) The best part is the location. No worries of looking for the fish the captain takes us to a place where there is fish and we catch -simple and easy. The crew is very helpful and full of energy. They are there whenever you need them. I have already recommended it to my friends and we will certainly go again. JUST GREAT!

We went on the valentines day sunset whale watching cruise. It was my husband and I and then my mom and dad. It was the BEST time! We saw 1 whale and hundreds of dolphins. The crew was very nice and friendly. We are already trying to plan our next trip. This is definately worth every penny!

We'd do it again!

This was our first time whalewatching with Dana Wharf. It was a smaller boat than on previous trips and that was a plus. The boat was clean, the crew was friendly and informative. We didn't have to go to far out before we began to follow a whale. On the return trip we spotted 4-5 more. We all had a good time.

Excellant adventure

The whole family had a good time on this trip. We had two 4 yr olds so we were a bit worried about how they would do and it all went fine. I think however that about 90 min into the 2 hr trip both girls started to feel some motion sickness. We had brought crackers and juice with us along with other snacks and that seemed to settle their stomachs. We saw two whales and a huge school of dolphins as well as some sea lions. Boat personnel were very nice and it all went well. There are tables and benchs on top of the boat so if you want that, get in line early to get first dibs. Also if you want a good spot at the front of the boat. Set your camera on telephoto and sports speed.

A wonderful experience

I thought initially we would never see whales. Just usually my luck, but with the crew knowing where to go I had the fantastic experience of seeing a calf and mother with yet another whale on the return portion of the trip. A highly recommended experience. What a value! I will return.

Mediocre Effort
Thu, Jul 23  5:30 PM pkwatts Male 30-39 Local Family Without Children
There are several dolphin and whale watching cruises around. Haven't tried them, but I imagine they're probably better than Dana Wharf. Although the cruise was cheap, I wasn't particularly impressed by the knowledge of the crew, the organization of the enterprise (use a lot of inexpensive, young labor), or what we saw that evening -- the captain spent way too much time with a small pod of dolphins instead of at least trying to make a decent effort to find other marine mammals (i.e., whales). They would have been a bit more interesting. When I do this again, I'll use another company that goes out on the 5-hour cruises. It's more expensive, but you pay for what you get.

Great afternoon out

We enjoyed our trip out on the catamaran. There were only a few people on our trip so there was plenty of room to move around and find a good spot to watch for whales, sit or sunbathe! We saw no big whales on this trip, but we did see hundreds of white- sided Dolphins. The Captain maneuvered the boat so the dolphins could ride the bow wave which delights children & adults alike.

Great Trip (Second Time)
Tue, Jan 6  10:00 AM PKalczynski Unspecified 30-39 Local Family Without Children
This is the second time we chose Dana Wharf and, again, we had a great time. Apart from the sea lions and hundreds of common dolphins, we observed a pair of California gray whales swimming South. The crew is very knowledgeable and they are working really diligently to find whales. We went on this trip last January (with kids) and found whales, too. Highly recommended. BTW If you are going on an early (10am) trip bring your coffee. Most coffee shops are closed and the one that is open charges almost $4 for a cup of so-so coffee.

Fantastic

We observed a group of three finback whales for a longer while. The captain made sure that everybody had a good view. He was very knowledgeable and provided information about the whales and other marine life we encountered on the journey (dolphins, sea lions).

Thanks to the Captain and the crew, the trip was safe and fun. We saw the whales backs but didn't get to see their tails coming out of the water. It was calm weather, calm waters, and most everyone had fun.

Nice Boat Ride

The coastline was beautiful and it was neat to see Sea Lions. We didn't see whales or dolphins, so I can't recommend it on that account. They did provide a coupon we can use to go again for free. The coupon supposedly never expires.
