Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

While the boat ride is OK.....the activity should be called "Dolphin watching" not Wale Watching.....if you happen to see a wale well does great......2 hrs of not much to see other than your occassional dolphin....

This was a great activity for families with kids. Seeing the blue whale was the highlight, and we watched it surface, swim, and dive several times. The one suggestion would be to have the driver not always direct the boat directly 'at' the whale - those of us who were not able to crowd up to the front of the boat had to look around and between everyone up front. Luckily the whale came up on the side of the boat once, allowing us a better look. Crew was pleasant and helpful.

It was a great way to spend a day off with the kids. Even though the fin whale was elusive we got great shots of the common dolphins. We seem to forget all of the beautiful adventures that are so close to home. We have already made plans to take another tour!!

Great Family activity- enjoying our beautiful ocean, and being away from cell phones and TV! Fun to teach the kids how to fish. We caught 2 and had them for dinner!

The crew was fantastic, informative, professional, experienced, zealous of what they do. They managed the trip exceptionally. We were fortunate to track a whale for an hour, see sea lions, blue shark and best of all, the Dana Point sighting of the Orcas. The crew did a great job in making this a better experience than I ever imagined.

First time ever going whale watching and we had a lot of fun. We didn't see any whales or dolphins but we seen a group of sea lions. Due to the fact that we didn't see any whales or dolphins we were given tickets to return for another visit and they don't expire. It was a great deal. We had so much fun we can't wait to go back!

We couldn't have asked for a better experience! We are looking forward to doing this again in July/August to see Blue Whales & we'll be choosing the same outfitters! The captain and deck hands were all great, knowledgeable and friendly. Their experience enabled us to not only see grey whales but to follow their path as they migrated down the coast. This is truly an experience our family will never forget- fun for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors! Children 3 to 93 will all be impressed and captivated not just by the ocean animals but also by the captains banter and knowledge of all things "ocean"! We enjoyed this excursion so much that we went twice the week we were visiting!

We tracked one whale and the crew did a great job at explaining the tendencies of the whale and got us in good position to see it.

New boat in great condition, very clean. Friendly, knowledgeable crew. Convenient snack bar and bathrooms onboard. Viewing area in the front of the boat is a little limited but, otherwise, very nice boat to go whale watching on.

and with a little luck you can see all different whales and dolphins. I will do it again.

We were thrilled with the all the dolphins but disappointed with the fact that we did not see any whales when we went at the height of whale season.

When individuals from outside California call to make a reservation, please share more information about fishing conditions and how they are different through out the year. Also we were unaware that food would be available on the boat.

We saw tons of dolphins and two blue whales! It was a great time.

It was fantastic!! The boat ride was wonderful as was the crew. We were able to see 2 different types of dolphins and sea lions. Even though we didn't see any whales it didn't matter. The dolphins put on a great show!! The whole trip was relaxing and exciting. I would totally recommend this trip to anyone and can't wait to go again.
