My wife and I went on this little excursion. I fished and she watched. This was my first time out fishing on the ocean. The crew were very respectful and helpful. The fishing was fabulous--of nearly 50 people, everyone caught plenty of fish--although success had supposedly been spotty over the previous weeks. There were several youth on board and they appeared to have a good time. There were no younger children on this trip, but I wouldn't mind brining my younger children along to watch as long as they stayed on the upper deck away from the occasional chaos. We had a wonderful time and the crew of the Dana Pride are great.

We saw hundreds of dolphins. Man its hard to get pictures of them. They had a marine biologists on board to explain what we were seeing. A nice memorable trip. Dress warm. Its a lot colder once you get out. Really a nice group of folks.

It was ok for taking friends that have never been deep sea fishing. However, the Captain kept moving around and picking "not so great areas" I felt we moved around too much wasting valuable fishing time.

There should be more assistance for the people that have never been on a fishing trip. Example: When we arrived at the place we didn't know were to start who to ask for help. Once we went on the ship there were no assistance with the fishing rod as to were is a good place to put your hand, what to do for the reel to not get like a birds nest, etc... Some additional assistance would be nice. I had to ask folks that seemed to know what they were doing. Some would just ignore me. Other than that it was Great.

We were given bait that was almost as big as the fish we were trying to catch!!!! I know this because I have taken this tour before. I really feel ripped off this time!!!! We would have had a better time fishing in a bathtub, than trying to catch fish with the huge bait we were given!!!!!!!! Very, very, very disappointing!!!!!!!! We will probably not book with them again!!!!!!

Everyone on board caught very little fish. I think this was partially due to the fact that the bait fish were too large. Although the crew was great and did their best to help us catch fish, I think on a planning level the trip could have been handled better. For example we could have gone to a better fishing ground, or gotten proper bait for the places we went.

Dana Wharf Sportfishing is a great landing for fishing. It's easy to get to, close parking, no long walks on the dock when you are carrying your gear and a great staff. Every person in the shop and on the boat was friendly and helpful. The boat captain worked hard to put us on the fish. I've never had a fishing trip go this smoothly. We completely enjoyed our trip and will be back again real soon.

I was disappointed in that the fishing was poor and I thought that at those spots where we encountered seals and sel lions that we ought to have moved, for my experience, althought it is alaska, tells me that when you are in the company of seals and sea lions, the fish are no where to be found. As a newcomer to your area, it would also have helped perhaps to give us an idea of where you were going to fish. You cant do much about those days when the fishing is poor, so take my thought with a grain of salt. Paul Costello Fairbanks

The wife and I went on the half day trip in the middle of september. The crew was extremely helpful and the trip was a blast. Good fun for everyone involved and un-like everything else in california they did not nickle and dime you to death.
