Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

Well, it was a nice boat ride - and narration. Got pretty close to seals and saw dolphins. The captain persisted in looking for whales, but we never saw any - but I liked the fact that he tried.

The boat trip alone is great, but it would have helped if the whales had cooperated and been present. We did see some California sea lions and the discussion about them and how they are different from seals was informative. We didn't see any other marine life except for sea birds until the very end when the boat ran thru some bait fish being chased by some dolphins. There was a potential sighting of a whale, but it was already too far behind us as we entered the harbor and we couldn't take the time to verify what it was. The captain made sure that we had the opportunity to go out again free of charge, which he really didn't have to do.

We have done this trip every valentines day for the last few years and have never been dissapointed. We have only been on one trip where we didn't see a whale and on that trip we still saw a tightly grouped pod of dolphins that were very entertaining. The crew on the boats are always invormative and personable and we always make at least one new friend. We look forward to it every year and will be going again next year. Cheaper than a french restaurant and twice as romantic

We went for Fathers Day and had a great trip

This was a very fun two-hour cruise, although we didn't see any whales or dolphins. The crew gave us passes to come back ANYTIME as promised and we will defintely be back! The boat was great and not too full, the only time someone in our group felt sea sick was when they stopped for a few minutes to see if the whale would surface. Great trip for a group of friends- definitely recommended!

This was my mom's Mother's Day gift. We enjoyed ourselves on the excursion even though we didn't get to see any whales. We did see California sea lions and dolphins, which was great. Luckily there weren't that many people on the boat, so it was nice to be able to move around whenever and wherever we wanted. We are planning on coming back during a different whale season and hopefully we will have better luck then. The staff was helpful when needed.

Didn't see a whale, just saw some water being blown out of blowhole but I didn't see even see a part of a whale, saw water blown 3 different times,they thought it would be made up and we would get our money's worth by seeing Dolphins and Seals..Seals you see everywhere..Dolphins were nice but so many where it wouldn't disappoint like whales. Just because we saw a blowhole but no whale shouldn't be technically whale watching,theres no pictures of whales to be taken during our trip. Whale didn't show itself.Felt ripped off seeing nothing but water being spurted out.I would not go again, I would go to the company that will be not so greedy & offer to give you another comp to come back and to actually see whales..and they wanted tips? for what? trying to justify why there wasn't whales? I didn't pay for dolphin watching,this is a Whale Watching ride,not Dolphin Watching. I'm so annoyed by it, our first time doing this & it was disappointing. I didnt even know where they were at, poorly narrated

We went whale watching on Jan 2 2009. While purchasing tickets we asked Zerve if the tour had any success in spotting whales in the last couple of trips, and they confirmed that the tour had spotted whales the past few days. We then bought tickets and took the tour. The tour was good as in we saw a lot of dolphins and seals. We did not spot any whales. When I asked the tour guide about it, he said that they had not spotted any whales in the last 2 1/2 weeks. The tour itself is very engaging and you get up and close with the dolphins. You also get to see seals up and close. I am just very disappointed at how zerve duped me into purchasing the tickets in the first place.

We went on a whale watching boat. We saw sea lions. No whales. We left on time and returned on time. Food and drinks may be purchased on the boat. Bring small money. We did not see any whales. We were given a free ticket for the whale watching boat to be used at a later time.

Love being on a boat, it's a relaxing time! We saw a school of tens of dolphins and a Blue Wale, the Captain was nice enough to spend more time to wait for the whale to come up again! We were late 5 min but nobody complained, we saw the Blue Whale!

The crew was very fiendly and helpfull with the children fishing. They made it a very positive experience.

My mother, sister and I have been whale watching together before. Although I had seen whales on other trips, we had never seen them together. It was obvious to me that the crew knew what they were doing. They communicated with the passengers effectively and found a grey whale right away. We had a great time!

Saw 4 whales! Crew was great and informative.

I had a good time on my whale watching trip - the day was beautiful and we saw dolphins. Unfortunately, we didn't see any whales. But true to their promise, the Dana Wharf company gave everyone on board a free ticket for a future trip. The boat was a bit crowded (it was Spring Break) so I would recommend getting in line early to guarantee yourself a good spot on the boat. (Seating is very limited unless you don't mind being inside.) The crew was knowledable, but unfortunately they did not give a lot of information over the loudspeaker. If you got lucky and were close to the crew on deck they did have a lot of information to share.

when i went whale watching, i saw some sea lions hanging out and basking in the sun. i took some pictures and we went deeper into the water. Later, we saw some common dolphins playing in the water. i tried to take some pictures, but they were too fast. i managed to take some pictures of them jumping. we didnt see a whale though, so we headed back to the docks. on our way back, we saw more dolphins. we got to the docks.
