Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching

when i went whale watching, i saw some sea lions hanging out and basking in the sun. i took some pictures and we went deeper into the water. Later, we saw some common dolphins playing in the water. i tried to take some pictures, but they were too fast. i managed to take some pictures of them jumping. we didnt see a whale though, so we headed back to the docks. on our way back, we saw more dolphins. we got to the docks.

My husband and I took this cruise for our 3rd wedding anniversary. It was absolutely amazing! I know a lot of it is circumstancial, but we saw 2 blue whales on our trip!!!!! One of them was almost right next to boat. One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The crew was also very nice and informative and we learned a lot about the whales. It was also nice that the crew was very strict about some small children that were being loud and obnoxious. They quieted them down so everyone else could enjoy the trip. It was much appreciated :)

There is no place to sit on this boat, we will fish again but never on the Reel Fun..

This was an amazing whale watching trip! We saw at least two fin whales and some local sea lions. Can't wait to go again!

While we didn't see any large whales, the crew made sure to find us a great little pod of Rizzo dolphins and a few bottlenoses - it was great fun! We went out again two days later, again no large whales, but common dolphins everywhere - it was a blast to watch those little guys swim along with the boat, so close they actually splashed you when they jumped from the water!

I was blown away by all the dolphins we saw and a bit dissappointed we didnt see any whales.

The whole trip was great. Weather was great, fishing was even better. Lots of keepers and just as many fun to reel in throw-backs. Captain and deck hand were really terrific as always.

This was the second Dana Wharf outing by family members in the past year, and we were again pleased by the service, scenery and pleasant and helpful crew. We will be back again..!!

The crew on this boat were great! We will definitely fish with them again.

We had a good time. Saw a lot of dolphins which was cool but no whales, but overall had a good time.

Although we did not spot any whales on our trip, my daughter and I still had lots of fun just being out on the water! The best part is that the DanaWharf provides you with a free return ticket because we did not see a whale, so we get to go back whenever we would like. It does not even have to be this season! That definitely made it worth our while. The staff of the Dana Pride were also very friendly. I would recommend this for a fun activity for the family

We enjoyed a beautiful two hour trip and followed two California Gray Whales at a respectful distance on their trip down the coast. The narration provided by the captain and others was both educational and enthusiastic. The crew was as delighted as the passengers in observing these beautiful animals. Really enjoyed our outting!

For this month's Father Daughter day, my princess asked to go fishing in the ocean. I have gone out of Dana Warf many times so naturally I went to their website to get more information. They had an offer that was perfect for us. She was free and her pole rental was free. There was a clinic before the trip for the kids to show them how to tie on their hooks and how to properly bait the hook. She was ready to go. Since this was her first trip into the ocean I did not have a lot of expectations for a good time. Sea sickness, boredom and disinterest were my concerns. She loved the boat ride comparing it to a ride. As far as the other two concerns that was a non-issue almost from the first cast. Fishing was horrible because of the sudden water temperature drop but she didn't care. She landed two fish and has her own "One that got away" story. She was very upset when the captain told us to pull in our lines because we had to head back. The crew was even impressed that she liked getting her own bait since a majority of the other kids (mostly boys) wouldn't. It was a great bonding day which was the true goal. She is already planning our next fishing trip. By the way she read that you have sleep over trips. I wonder how her Hello Kitty sleeping bag will fit in with the rest of the fishermen's gear. We took the 10 am cruise and were able to enjoy not only great weather but a terrific experience. Captain was very knowledgable and after leading us to schools of dolphin brought us within photographic distance of several grey whales. Only negative part about the trip was the number of other boats with inexperienced skippers who tended to spook the whales and prevented us from getting a closer look. Nevertheless, a very enjoyable experience.
