Perfect Family Outting
Sat, Jan 19, 08   12:00 PM murphykarol Female 20-29 Local Family With Children
Hello Everyone, Thanks so much for a wonderful afternoon. I took my whole family whale watching and everyone had a blast. Although there were no whales we found the crew both friendly and knowledgeable. There was enough sea-life to make it memorable and a couple hours at sea was great. I have and will recommend this to anyone. We had such a great time we will probably be back in March for another chance to hopefully see whales. Thanks again!

Crew Members Are Great

The crew members were great and helpful. Disappointed because almost everyone came back empty handed. Are there any fish left in the ocean?

the pod of dolphins we encountered was a lot of fun. I would suggest that the crew prohibit cigar smoking on the cruise. A few people got a little 'green' - not from the cruise, but from the inconsiderate passenger smoking a nasty cigar.

good day of fishing

Met my youngest son, three of this friends at Dana Point went on a 1/2 day boat. Everyone on the boat caught sand, calico bass, short barracuda and one nice halibut. The captain and boat hands were extremely courteous and helpful in assisting the fishermen in retying hooks, removing fish, bagging them, untangling line snags and cleaning the fish. Great 1/2 day boat for all.

This was my first time ever at deep sea fishing. The crew where encougaging and reassuring. I caught four fish, threw 3 back and enjoyed one for dinner, with leftovers to freeze. It was a very fun experience and I recommend it.

This was a fun tour even though we didn't see any whales. We did see a few different species of dolphin as well as sea lions!

An excellent high seas adventure...

This is a really great trip. I would have given 5 stars but it was lacking in the Marine Expert department but otherwise a great trip. As advertised we were supposed to get a 20 minute presentation and video on Blue Whale research as well as have a marine biologist on board to educate on Blue Whales and marine life as well as interact with our guests. They had some information boards present and a friendly bartender / crew but no presentation and no interaction. At least not for us and we didn't seek it out. The highlights...other than the beautiful weather we had. This is NOT a fishing charter boat used for whale watching durring its off time, it was a VERY VERY clean boat, comfortable galley, nice wide open bow, smooth ride, and very stable when stopped to watch the whales. The boat was not crowded. We had a small group of no more than 20 people on board so everyone had a good view. Once we spotted a whale we got a bit of interesting information about the whales and then the chase began. The whale would surface off in the distance and we woulld give chase. We did this about 4 or 5 times before our time was up and we had to return to port. All in all, we had a great time and would definatly do it again. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

A great place to take an out of town visitor

This is a gem of a place to take an out of town visitor. On our trip, we were able to see a whale (a part of it at least), and many many dolphins. The ship was nice, the crew were laid back, and they were eager to find the whales---and get us close to view them. The experience was amazing---and we'll definitely be back when other people come visit us.

We booked this trip figuring we would see just dolphins. We actually got more than we expected. A blue whale!! The whale surfaced many times. What a great experience to see such a magnificent creature! Would recommend this trip even if all you saw was dolphins. Can't wait until our next trip! Thanks Dana Wharf!

Father's Day Outing

We participated in a half day outing. Our Zerve reservations were perfect. They checked us in quickly and easily at Dana Wharf. Once on the boat the crew was super helpful! My husband even won the jackpot and this was his first time fishing. The smell of the hamburgers from the galley were to die for! We had a great time!

Absolutely amazing!

My husband and I drove from Fort Irwin (near Barstow) to Dana Point for this tour, and it was so much more amazing than we thought it was going to be (and we were expecting a lot!) The tour guides knew so much and made us all feel really comfortable. We saw lots of dolphins, seals, and had about 4 whale sightings (even though I missed it every time!) Some ppl on the back of the boat saw a gray whale actually come up and out of the water, and we saw a really weird sun fish that was totally unexpected. The coolest thing was they weren't worried about time limits. We came back half and hour late because we were spotting so many "possible" whale sightings that they were hanging around the area long enough for us all to get a good look. The boat was nice and wasn't too crowded. I would definately go back on this tour over and over!

Not My Cup of Tea

If you enjoy being herded onto a boat and taken to a point out along the coast to stare into dark, dismal water then this is the trip for you. The day I participated it was very cold, overcast and dreary. We rode out along the coast, which took about thirty minutes and watched for a whale to appear. We did see one, although very briefly. Everyone flocked to one side of the boat to see the elusive whale and I felt as though I were in a can of sardines. We headed back to shore afterward and I must say, I was happy to get off the boat. I vowed if I ever go whale watching again, it will be in Hawaii!

Lots of Dolphins - Great Boat
Sat, Mar 21  2:00 PM mrrosenbloom Male 30-39 Local Family With Children
We had a great time. George (in the galley) made my wife and daughter feel very welcome. My wife says that he "makes a mean burger". We didn't see any whales, but did see lots of dolphins and sea lions.

We had a fun and relaxing day

I'm not a fisherman and was therefore a bit stressed about tying hooks onto the lines and baiting these hooks. The crew on board the Clemente was extremely helpful, polite and courteous. They made the trip very enjoyable. They were great with my kids, teaching them about the different types of fish we were catching, baiting their hooks for them and tying any hooks for me. The crew did all of the "dirty work" for us and we simply had to drop the bait into the water. The meals were also reasonably priced.
