It was fantastic!! The boat ride was wonderful as was the crew. We were able to see 2 different types of dolphins and sea lions. Even though we didn't see any whales it didn't matter. The dolphins put on a great show!! The whole trip was relaxing and exciting. I would totally recommend this trip to anyone and can't wait to go again.

No Whales but lots and lots of dolphins

Since we were with little ones who at this point are into dolphins, whales and sea lions it was great. We saw lots and lots of dolphins which made the trip worth while. My only complaint was we left the dock almost 10 minutes late and arrived back a few minutes early if not on time. We saw no whales but will definately go back again. For those who like to eat: I heard the burgers were really really good!!!!

My wife and I took our 4 year old son whale watching and we were not disappointed. The crew of the Dana Pride were awesome. They were very helpful and always took their time to answer any questions people had about the whales, dolphins, or the boat. During the trip we saw tons of dolphins and later followed two gray whales. The whales were definitely the highlight of the trip as they both breached out of the water several times. Nobody left unhappy. One word of caution. We went on the 10:00am trip and it was an overcast day. The weather in the harbor only required a light sweatshirt, but was much colder on the water. Unless it is a hot day you will want to make sure you bring some pretty warm clothes. Other than the cold it was an incredible time for the entire family and the other passengers all seemed to have a great time as well. We will definitely be returning for another trip soon.

I planned for my boyfriend and I to go on the Valentine's day sunset tour. While we didn't see any whales, we did see sealions and seals and had a great time. The staff was great from checking in to seeing us off the boat. We are looking forward to going again!

We went whale watching for the first time ever. We didn't see any whales but did see dolphins and seals. They tried finding whales but they just weren't visible, so a bit of a bummer but still overall fun.

The whale watching trip was well organized, fairly priced, a good activity for out of town guests. Unfortunately there were no whales, but that's something that can't be predicted. We did see lots of dolphins.

Giant Humboldt Squid Bite Wide Open..........

Went 2-1-10 after hearing about it on FNN and the news Monday morning. You gotta go. Its the best $25 ive spent in a long time. Boat was full with 55 anxious anglers. Went out maybe a mile or 2. There were about 6-10 other boats all in the same area we went to. Captain said we are metering lots of squid, time to fish! Dropped my squid jig down, down, and down some more. "Where are they I thought?" as everyone lowered and lowered their jigs deeper and deeper into the water. Then about 2 minutes in, BAM! Then another one, and another. In less than 5 mins everyone on the boat was battling one of these monsters! Gaff! Gaff! Gaff! thats all I heard. As soon as they started biting they moved up to the surface. Right when you would drop the jig in the water, BAM! another one. Squid on! After about an hour of fishing and 3 Giant Squid later the captain announced, "Please dont drop anymore lines in the water". He was sure to ask if everyone caught what they wanted and that everyone caught atleast one squid. The captain explained that with so many anglers on board and so many squid being caught if we had fished any longer we would not get back to dock until after midnight. They have to clean all the squid before returning to the dock. It did end up taking longer for the crew to clean all the squid then it did to catch them. That though was a show all in its own. The unofficial count was around 375 for the boat. Im sure I coulda caught more but I was also helping my 9 year old daughter and my wife. All together we caught 7. Anyone who is even considering going has got to go while it last. The crew and captain were really nice and helpful as were the people in the shop. Hope I can go again later this week if theyre still biting.......... TaperSteve

Whale and Dolphin Watching Adventure Tour
Mon, Sep 19, 11   5:00 PM tanujkush Male 20-29 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My family was visiting in town, so I decided to go whale watching since I'd never seen whales before. I booked online for three but was told that the boat was full for that day (this was a sunday) and I could re-schedule for the next day. So I did, and man, did I enjoy!! We saw about 8-10 sightings of about 3-4 blue whales, the guys steering the ship took us real close to the whales and we got some awesome views. On the way back we passed by a shoal of dolphins and it was a pleasure to see them whip out of the surface every 3-4 seconds. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed and so did my parents. The guys who were steering the ship were very good and went out of their way to ensure all onboard got great pics. They were also very informative, giving out tidbits of information about the whales every now and then over the blow horn. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. Book in advance though, and try going on a weekday, the crowd is lesser and there is more time given per trip. My whole trip lasted about 2 hours on the sea. Very enjoyable indeed!

Whales, Dolphins and Sea Lions, oh my

What a beautiful afternoon. Our captain was very descriptive about what we were going to see and a few moments later there they are 2 amazing blue whales! Everyone in my group had huge smiles on their faces as we kept track of the minutes waiting for the whales to resurface. Great pleasure to watch these amazing animals. We had lots of room to move about the boat and stand at the rail to get the closest look at the whales. We also kept track with a pod of swift moving dolphins and then we ended our trip by looking at the sea lions in the area. Such a memorable experience and a fun way to see a little more detail about California. My 10 and 12 year old and their 70 yr old Nana loved their adventure and we all agreed to do this tour again. Thank you.

Best money spent in Southern California!

Though we are local, we had family in from Upstate New York. The group ranged in age from 10 to 70. The eldest was in a wheelchair. Every person had a blast and didn't stop talking about it for the rest of the trip. The crew helped my aunt in the wheelchair down and up the ramps. My uncle didn't have to do a thing. They are all super nice and enthusiastic. We all had a great time!
