We had not left the harbor by more then 200 yards when we came upon three gray whales courting and then mating. Truely a once in a life time experience! if that was not enough we then found a large pod of dolphins that entertained us for a good thirty minutes.
We could not have asked for a better trip! |

If you can get passed the pretencious, snobby, plastic locals that live outside of their means, in a dream world - the area is actually really nice. The ship it self was very clean, well maintained, with very well educated staff. I felt safe the entire time, as did my girlfriend. We were just looking for something to do to get away from Disneyland for a day, and this seemed like a good idea. We saw grey whales surface several times, and some dolphins jumping, as well as sea lions (these can be seen at pretty much every rocky point on the west coast, but still interesting). There are food and drinks on the ship, and the one guy who's name I can't remember - he actually stays on deck with you and is full of useful information about the area. I definitely will return and do this again, and highly recommend it for couples or families. |

Had a great time, crew is very accommodating and knowledgeable. Would have been a great experience even
if we had not seen any marine life (but we did) and the crew was very informative as to what we were seeing ,why and also a little marine biology lesson thrown in. I do not hesitate to recommend this trip to any and all. Enjoy! |

Tuesday Whale Watching
Whale Watching in Gray Whale Season (Dec - Apr)

I'd recomend the Tuesday half price special as the boat had maybe 40 people on it. Our Feb 19th scheduled 10:00 am departure actually left about 10:10, perhaps they were waiting to see if anyone else would show up. They ask you to be dockside a 1/2 hour before the scheduled departure, and free parking is more than adequate. The staff on the boat was friendly and talked about the marine life we happened to see. The trip lasted about 1:45 long and was an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours. This is my third whale watching trip and I've yet to see a whale but did see many dolphin and sea lions. The company offers a guarrantee that if you don't see any dolphins or whales you'll get another trip voucher ... trust me, you'll always see dolphins, probably not whales but always dolphins! There is an indoor galley with seating on board in case your hungry or thirsty and I noted that they sell beer and "adult beverages" too. There are resrooms onboard. I would definitly bring a wind breaker or coat with a hood especially if you plan to travel during the winter months and want to watch from the bow (front) of the boat. Camera's are a must and having a pair of binoculars would be a bonus. If you liked the trip, have a couple of dollars handy since they put a "tip" jar next to where you exit the boat. If you've never done something like this and will not be too disapointed if you don't see an actual whale then I say go for it and enjoy the views, atmosphere and ride. I plan on going again sometime in the future since I live locally. Who knows, maybe the fouth time will be the charm to see whales. |

My family (my sister, brother-in-law and their kids, my brother, and my mom and dad) all enjoyed this great whale-watching expedition. We got to see a bunch of dolphins and a couple of gray whales. The tour guide was very entertaining and informative. |

This was far beyond what we expected. We thought we would have a good time. Instead, we had a fantastic! time! Highly recommended for families with children. Our son,9, had a blast and came home to talk us into planning another trip. The crew are so helpful and knowledgeable. |

I have been on whale-watching tours in many countries and this was the best. Capt Larry is highly knowledgeable about whales, dolphins, sea birds and the region, and is very enthusisatic. We saw lots of dolphins, a sun-fish and a blue whale. Great! The DVD is well worth buying too! I'll be coming again when I am next in California. |

I went with my wife and two boys, ages 9 and 12. We found the boat clean, on time and the crew very helpful. we went on a Tuesday afternoon 1/2 priced whale watching tour, but did not see any whales, but were not disappointed. We saw plenty of dolphins which were very cool to experience. They seemed to want to entertain us and did a great job. The boat was out to sea for about 2 hours which seemed to be the right amount of time to spend on the water. |

My two sons age 11/12 and I decided to go fishing on the 1/2 day boat. It was a special deal -one paid adult-2 free kids. Hey,you can't beat that deal. The fishing bite was slow but the captain (boat SUMFUN)worked hard trying to find a good bite spot. The majority of the crew was polite, professional and helpful except for one deck hand who was short tempered and rude. I didnt get his name(m/white 20's heavy set 6'0 ruddish skin/ green t-shirt) but he was a grumpy @#$%. He must have had a hangover and should have stayed in bed. The boys had a breakfast sandwich and each boy caught a small fish. The boys had a great time and wanted to stay longer hoping to catch "moby dick".It was an enjoyable 1/2 day and I would go again minus the grump. Also I would like to see the rotation of the standing fishing spots on the boat done with more frequency unless were all catching our limit. |

Dana Wharf Sportfishing is a great landing for fishing. It's easy to get to, close parking, no long walks on the dock when you are carrying your gear and a great staff. Every person in the shop and on the boat was friendly and helpful. The boat captain worked hard to put us on the fish. I've never had a fishing trip go this smoothly. We completely enjoyed our trip and will be back again real soon. |

I've been on this tour before and had a great time. The first time we saw no whales, in fact you can't count on seeing whales. Often you do see them, but not always. This time we saw a gray whale and a huge pod of dolphins. It was magical. No matter what sea life you are fortunate enough to see, this is a great experience and a wonderful way to get another perspective on the area. |
