| I brought my 13 year old son with me and we really had a great time, the crew was very helpful and always ready to lend a hand if lines got tangled and always there when a fish was landed to put it in the proper gunny sack. They even quickly re-rigged my son's line when it needed to be cut due to major tangles. I would highly reccomend Dana Wharf for day fishing. | ||||||

| Seeing two mature blue whales up fairly close and tracking them for an hour was a great experience. Seeing a school of nursing dolphins on the way out was a bonus. Paying $20 extra per person for the 1pm cruise gets you a trip on their brand new catamaran which is fast, quiet and clean with no diesel or exhaust fumes. The crew was polite, friendly and knowledgeable. If you have a little luck with the whales as we did, it's hard to see how you could not enjoy this trip. | ||||||

| The 1/2 day fishing trip is in my opinion is the best way to spend an afternoon. Myself and my group of friends plan on making it a once a week thing if possible. The crew is awesome and the burgers are even better. I will recommend this to all my friends. | ||||||

| The boat was extremely clean and fast! It was a blast. The only downsides were that the cabin smelled of sewage and the man at the snack bar wasn't super friendly. Overall, it was a great experience. We saw many dolphins and even a few blue whales! | ||||||

| I have been on this trip many times before but in the past 3 or 4 years the fishing has seemed to come to halt. The staff always has excuses for the poor catch conditions. Our boat left about 15 minutes late because they were waiting for more people to show up, not fair to those of us who got there on time. I also did'nt pay to sit in the harbor. The boat crew was very helpful and enthusiastic. Although the office/check in staff are very rude and do a poor job of welcoming your business. My recent trip on July 4 2008 will be my last one, after about 15 years of visitng at least once or twice a year. | ||||||

| 6:30 half day trip-Full boat, decent crew and good intentions. Just no luck. 3-4 keepers for entire boat of about 30 anglers. I caught a small white bass but had to throw it back. Crew threw out lures and hooked a bunch of barracuda near the kelp beds to keep it interesting but just no luck. I will definitely give it another chance. | ||||||

| Short and sweet , we left the dock on time wheather was good , the deck hands were very polight , and the the capton made sure everyone on the boat had chance to catch something. | ||||||

| Our family had a great time. We went to seaworld the previous day and were looking forward to seeing sealife in their natural habitat. We were in the water about 20 minutes when we ran into a huge pod of common dolphins. We saw pods of risso and more common dolphins. It was amazing watching the dolphins swim all around the boat. We were down on the front deck and could see the dolphins racing on the side and crossing the boats front bow. We were hoping to see the blue whale but no such luck. On the way back there was a beautiful view of the coastline and sailboats. We did a lot of different things on our vacation but the ocean cruise was the most entertaining. | ||||||

| We went on an afternoon half day boat. The day started off rocky as there was inadequate parking for their customers. The boat was about 15 minutes late. The Captain didn’t spend too much time finding a good fishing spot, but the fish were almost all undersized. There was a young man about 12 on the boat that was obviously a relative of the Captain or a crew member. He was allowed to fish however and wherever he wanted and tangled several other anglers. And when he did get tangled, he would cut the other person’s line. The crew members said nothing to him, but then they were too busy fishing themselves. The Captain never required a rotation of rail positions so you were stuck in the same spot the whole trip. I may go back to Dana Wharf, but it will not be on the half day boat. | ||||||

| If you're a fisherman, this is a recommended trip especially during the summer when the fish are really biting. Fun for all. If you are the least suseptable to motion sickness, medication is in order. | ||||||

| All in all it was a good trip. The deck hands were good and the captain was enthusiastic. One of the things I would recommend would be to have the boat loaded with bait before patrons get on the boat. I was told the boat left at 6:30am and we didn't really leave until about 7am. Then we spent another 15 minutes plus to load the boat with bait. I just think people prefer the time fishing rather than watching the bait get loaded onto the boat. But all in all a good trip. | I understand that it is hard to determine where fish are going to be and even harder to determine if you will catch any fish. My suggestion is that the Captain has a plan. For the half day trip with my kids, my objective was to spend as much time fishing as possible. The majority of our trip was spent driving to a location and determining if the location had fish beneath us. For the 5 hour trip, we only stopped at 3 locations to drop our lines. In addition, the locations we stopped had very few legal fish to keep. It was a great experience, but I would recommend your guides to have a more detailed plan for future trips. I would definitely do it again, just wish we had more time fishing and less time commuting. | ||||||
