Mega-pod of dolphins

| The boat was uncrowded as it was the last cruise of the day. The captain headed out and soon spotted a huge number of dolphins. He took us right into the pod. At least a hundred of these animals were racing with our boat and jumping up out of the water. We never saw a whale, but seeing these dolphins was an experience of a lifetime. | ||||||

| My children and I had a lot of fun on the cruise. We were initially very excited because we heard that the earlier cruises had spotted whales, so we thought we had a good chance. It was not to be; but, there was a pod of dolphins that were a lot of fun. The kids and I enjoyed the beautiful weather and being out on the water. | ||||||

| Well organized whale watching cruise with enthusiastic staff who is eager to find whales and did! It was amazing to see the whales so close to the boat! The crew patiently and respectfully followed the whales who seemed not stressed by our appearance. I hope that the latter is always the case. | ||||||

| This was the most boring thing I've done in a while. The Captain of the boat didn't tell us what we were doing or what we were looking for. He let us know about a half an hour into the tour that there were a pack of Sea Lions on the bouy that was right in front of us. The next hour and a half the Captain didn't say one word until we were pulling back into the harbor to let usknow that we will be getting refunds! I've been whale watching out of Dana Point before and the Captain made the trip worth while for us! He would tell jokes and let us know what we were looking for and he just made so much of an effort to keep us entertained! We didn't see any Whale or Dolphin and that's just Mother Nature, but the Captain couldn't have been more speechless! And he didn't seem to make much of an effort to search for any Whale or Dolphin either. | ||||||

| My adult daughter & I were on a mini vacation & always wanted to go whale watching. This gave us an opportunity to be together and have fun even though we saw no whales. The dolphin pods were saw were beautiful, and the relationship the adults had with their young reminded us of our closeness and love. | ||||||

| didnt get to see any whales. saw some sea lions, and dolphins. thats about it. I had the impression that these guys knew where to find the whales, but they didnt. they were just looking around random places with binoculars. and if u see dolphins they dont give any kind of credit for not seeing the whale on this whale watching boat. | ||||||

| It was unfortunate that although we had spectacularly blue skies, plus an enthusiastic group of strangers who became friends on board, we saw not one wee bit of the many whales who we heard were traveling through the area. At the very end we saw a small school of playful dolphins who were fun & fast to watch but they were not the gray whales we'd been hoping to see. It was particularly upsetting that the people on the 12 noon cruise had seen whales and we had not AND that there was no offer of a ticket for another day, because, if you see at least dolphins, although this is a whale watching cruise, then it counts as having seen "something". It was nice to be outside on the water, but it was not what we paid for. | ||||||

| We had a party of seven people for the fishing trip. Getting 7 people ready to go and be on time can be a real challenge. We were late and DanaWharf held the fishing boat for us. The crew on board, Eric, Brian & Ben were terrific. My wife let her reel go a few times and the guys were Johnny on the spot to help her with her tangled mess. My wife son, the birthday boy, had a broken wrist with a cast on. Each time he needed new bait, again the crew was there to help him out. I would highly recommend a fishing trip with this company. | We didn't see any whales but lots of dolfins playing with the boat. The crew was great lots of information given and spent their time really looking for the whales and made sure we got to see the dolfins up close. We also saw sealions. My daughters really enjoyed it even though it was a bit cool (weather). | ||||||

Rare opportunity off CA coast

| Found a whale fairly quickly, soon joined by another. Watch as the whale breached about three times. Another whale joined, now we are watching three whales. In a rare opportunity we were able to observe the whales mating. This was unbelievable, and kept the whales on top of the water most of time. | ||||||

| We were on the Reel Fun 1/2 day fishing on Saturday June 20, 2009. We had a great time. The guys on the boat helped all of us that needed help. Very attentive to our needs. We were a family of six. Ages 17 yrs old - 45. Caught several fish. We will be back!! Very fun day!! | ||||||

| We had a good time and I would recommend this trip. The staff on board are very friendly. The guide was very enthusiastic and clearly enjoys her job. We saw a lot of dolphins up close and some other assorted marine and aviary life. A few glimpses of grey whales from a distance, but the crew tried hard, it just wasn't our day I suppose. Mostly an older crowd on our trip; it was low key and not crowded. The boat is clean and in good condition. Its only 10 minutes from the St. Regis Monarch Beach Hotel where we stayed. I would go again. The staff at the check-in desk at the Dana Wharf store are less friendly. Parking in the Dana Wharf lot is also tight, so give yourself extra time to find a place to park. | ||||||
