Fun even tho no whales

| we went out on a cold and windy day. Unfortunately we didn't spot any whales. The trip was fun though - and we got a pass to come back again for free. The boat was nice and well-maintained - and the crew seemed very professional. Our only suggestion is that there could have been more commentary during the trip. No one said anything from when we left until we got back. I'm only assuming they would have said something if we had seen a whale. | ||||||

| The boat was OK, but some chairs or places to sit on the deck would have been nice. We tried to sit downstairs but could not see through the windows and could not hear the loudspeaker. We enjoyed seeing a few sea lions and a pod of dolphins, but really disappointed not to see a whale. We had read in the promotion that this was an especially good time to see blue whates, but when checked in, we were told they hadn't seen a whale in a week. Crew was courteous, and we didn't have any problems with the tour. | ||||||

| They didn't tell me that we were not going to see any whales....thought they had them reserved for our viewing....NOT.....even though we didn't see any whales, a pod of dolphin were there for us to enjoy. Well maintained vessel, polite and helpful crew, easy to find location, a good all-around time....now, if they can just get the whales to cooperate......honestly, worth the time and enjoyed the trip. | ||||||

| A great trip with the kids (9 & 11). They caught a decent number of small fish and had fun doing it. As far as actually getting some fish to take home and eat, it didn't happen. | ||||||

| It was so much fun -- from the greeting by the staff, to the captain's whale expertise, to the dolphins showing off alongside the boat -- all wonderful. Best of all, of course, were the wonderful HUGE blue whales. A truly wonderful day! | ||||||

| I have a great time every time I take the half day trip. Next time I am thinking about springing for the 3/4 day jaunt. The captain found the fish, I caught them, and the crew cleaned them. What more could you ask for from a fishing trip? | ||||||

| I would highly recommend Catamaran Adventure Cruises. My boyfriend and I went on the 1pm whale watching tour out of Dana Point on Sunday 11/8. The reason I gave this a five star rating despite not encountering any whales or dolphins was the fact it was a gorgeous day on the water. The crew was friendly, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. They gave us all vouchers for 50% off of our next trip because we didn't have any whale or dolphin encounters. | ||||||

| I recently took a 1/2 day fishing trip which was advertised for 5 hours. The boat left the dock around 12:45 PM and approximately 30 minutes later we made our first stop and began fishing. After several stops and a slow day fishing, the captain announced at around 4:35, that we would call it a day and started heading in. We arrived back at the dock before 5:00PM. Since there was still plenty of daylight left when we began to head home, and it was still light when we arrived, I wish we could have fished a bit more and kept closer to the 5 hour schedule that was advertised. On separate note, the crew was great and very helpful. A fishing clinic for the kids before we headed out was a nice bonus. | ||||||

| We were 12 guys that booked the twilight fishing trip on October 24, 2009. The fish did not bite the way we wanted to, but the season was almost over. Some guys did catch quite a few. The jackpot went to the guy who caught a 2.5 pounder. The evening was really great. Great friends. Great weather. Great crew on Reel Fun. Brian did a fantastic job to untangle al the bird nests. Dan cooked great burgers and kept the beers cold. The captain stopped at three different places where he could see fish on the fish finder. Before we knew it, the 4 hours were over and we were back at the harbor. We would probably do a longer trip next time. But then again, it is always good to stop eating when you still want a little bit more. The 1/2 day is good for people that do not do too good on the ocean. We loved it. Will definately do it again. Will be great for older kids too - maybe when they are about 10. | ||||||

| Saw sea lions. Did not see anything else. gorgeous sunset view. Would maybe go earlier as we were cold. Web site said that if we did not get to see dolphins or whales, would get a $10 coupon for next trip. We were not offered that. Could tell the guys tried really hard to spot something. They said the whales were not seen in this area yet so wondered why this was advertised as a whale watching adventure. Felt somewhat misled on that. Overall good we went, saw the beautiful coastline and the sunset. | ||||||

| My son and I decided to go fishing, we decided to go to DanaPoint. The weather didn't cooperate, but the captain was trying his best to give the patroons a good trip, but decided it would be better to come in earlier. The company offered a half off offer on another trip. Since the weather is a very influential part on a sea trip, this was a very good and fair choice. The next time, I want to go on a trip like this, I definately will keep them in mind. | ||||||

| The Deckhands were all OK, no complaints there. I think that the next time I'd take a longer trip. 1/2 day doesn't get you any time for the boat to go far enough out. I could swear that I caught a Yellowtail on a 1/2 day boat, a few years back, but maybe it was a longer trip, so I was somewhat disappointed that this boat didn't go too far from the harbor. | ||||||
